livesey4917
Well I've just has a quick look at the league and its got me wondering, there must be at least 3 games this season we should have won and not lost and given us 9 points more. If's and but's I know but just shows the fine line between success and failure. I'm not one for getting on about managers being sacked etc but I do think they should be backed by the supporters and chairman etc, While they are employed by the club The loan signings have seemed to have worked out (in this window) and it just gets me thinking if we had got the extra 9pts would there be as many fans moaning about our current regime and if we were chasing a playoff spot instead of fighting relegation would that be seen as a success? I know there are some doom merchants on here and some will slate my ideas but I dont think we are a million miles away - as the league would suggest. Also considering what we have spent on players and had quite a turn around of playing staff, If we were to finish where we currently are I think that this has to be judged as a success. Onwards and upwards. The beer will taste a little sweeter tonight UTO
cross owl
Stunning league this season . Forty matches and were three points and results go our way from thirteenth and three points and results go against us from second bottom . Mid table obscurity just doesnt exist this year :-)
yowl84
It's a thrilling league at the moment, utterly gripping. But is the standard any good? Only the current top 3 have shown any consistency, and they've had their blips too. When the gap between playoffs & relegation is so small, it does indicate that a lot of teams aren't really up to much. Bolton and Forest have obviously done very well second half of the season, arguably so have ourselves and Barnsley. Looking at their fixtures, I think Peterborough might be down, despite their resilience. Who joins them and Bristol is still anyone's guess. Eightace
I don't think that jones warms himself to a lot of the fans. I haven't really took to him myself. So people were quick to get on his back because they didn't really like him. Also at times the football has been quite bad.Good results but shaky performances and scrappy wins. We might well have had 9 more points but at the same time we've probably scraped 9 points we didn't fully deserve. I think if the season started again next week and we had the same squad i think we would be ok but there is still a lot of work to do as regards getting some quality in. Jones can do the job for us but i don't think he's the god he's made out to be.Maybe with a manager who demanded his players play football and was more likeable and a better man manager we could be higher in the table by now? People moan when they maybe shouldn't but then sometimes people just look at the results and think everything is ok. But i suppose it isn't really bad for a first season back. Adam1867
Scary how if we win out game in hand on Tuesday we will have won more games this season than 13 other teams in the league. Yet we are still in trouble.
jamthesun
I've been saying for a while that I think we'll finish mid-table. Mad to think that as OP says a few games here or there and we could be in the play-offs. Thank god we aren't though 'cause this squad is a long way short of premier league standard. We'd be lucky to finish bottom.
Guest Sweet&TenderOwl
I've been saying for a while that I think we'll finish mid-table. Mad to think that as OP says a few games here or there and we could be in the play-offs. Thank god we aren't though 'cause this squad is a long way short of premier league standard. We'd be lucky to finish bottom. A lot of the teams at the top don't even look up to Prem standard and would probably struggle without big investment or the element of surprise? It's been a crazy season, no-one as stood out, hardly anyone as been consistent and the table is so tight from 9th all the way down to the bottom 3. Anyone going down in this crazy season can feel hard done by but will only have themselves to blame, whilst everyone who stays up can have a huge sigh of relief. We're edging closer to safety. A lot of work will need to be done next season for us to progress and become a stronger outfit at this level. It'll be great if we stay up, even though at times the football as been dire and we've lacked quality, all that matters is staying up and to keep progressing. sherlyegg
I've said all season this league is not tough...ok, tough if you are a poor team. It's by no means a 'quality league' Sometimes people get mixed up with quality and competitive. But it does make for interesting and sometimes exiciting matches...and yep better than most including the premiership for ups and downs. We could realisticly have 7 points more than we have. We lost at Cardiff, yet Cardiff don't look and didn't look much better than us...same as Watford. I think we have missed a chance this year, simply because we have been poor,- just average, we would have been in the play-offs. Don't know why, but this year there are 16 poor teams in this division and we are one of em. The bullshit about 'another level' and consolidate ahhhhhhhhhhhhh nope. I would bet all teams promoted last season none will be relegated, hudders are looking dodgy but they are no worst than any 6 above em. A won relegation battle is small comfort...but ffs its not good enough
yowl84
On paper, I think there'd be reason to believe we could win all our remaining games. Yet despite results it's not like we've ever hit a patch of convincing form, performance-wise. This is probably true of some of the teams around us too. Still think we should've done better at times and especially at home, but that had a major impact on our season. I do wonder when DJ goes on about management being trial and error that he is basically saying - don't hold the Bothroyd saga against me.
Steelman
Can't help but wonder how the season might have panned out if we hadn't been forced to carry that League 1 Striker we loaned from QPR. It's no coincidence we couldn't buy a win with that lazy, useless piece of dog dirt in the side. Can't remember his name for the life of me, was it Hemorrhoid or something like that? Anyway, I'm looking forward to giving him a real warm welcome at S6 next season. Oh, hang on, he'll not be able to get in their side.
