3 Wins

Recommended Posts

This was the League table as it stood following the defeat by Bristol just before Christmas. In the intervening period we have taken 31 points from 17 games. Maintain that form over the last 8 games and we should add another 15 points which puts us into the dizzying heights of mid-table obscurity. It's as simple as that.

I can't be bothered to argue all that rubbish but i'll just point out that half the division is battling to stay up still

This "comfortable mid table safety" is a myth

If we do stay up and it'll mostly be down to just the fact that the League as been terrible this season and that hopefully there'll be three teams worser than ourselves.

We'll more than likely be in this exact same position next season, unless we address the spine of our team, our squad depth and get more creative players, with some quality and a greater threat.

So even taking out that tough period in March when we lost three matches in relatively quick succession, we are still averaging 1.82 points per game over a period of 17 games. That is some form over such a lengthy period of the season yet people still doubt we are good enough to compete in this league. Maintain that form until the end of the season and we should reach the comfort of 60 points.

Hard to see us maintaining that without Antonio, hope I'm wrong but can only see it going right down to the wire and being touch and go.

The majority of points gained during that period have been more to do with our defensive capabilities rather than attack wise. Even without Antonio, we can still manage a few goals. As long as we stay firm at the back, we'll be fine. Losing Reda was as much of a blow as losing Antonio now.

Aye, Reda was a big blow too both players are key, Buxton's red card doesn't help either.

It's a positive that we've tightened up and got stronger defensively. That said, if the games are tight and high stake near the end, keeping it tight and defensive might play into the opposition's hands rather than ours, hard to say what will happen but I imagine if we carry on creating little and not putting many away that it'll go down to the wire. When it's in our hands and we should be going for it in these remaining games.

Bristol City will be really nervous tomorrow. They have to win or they are gone simple as that. Should suit us down to a tee.

They will be fighting for their lives - knowing it is curtains if they don't get 3 points - and their recent home record is impressive.

We have to neuter their kitchen sink attitude and match it - otherwise they will turn us over.

A draw will be a good result for us in context.

I will be happy with a point from Bristol, everything is context, if we stay up we should be positive about next season as we will feel that we have figured this league out after the very poor start.

If we go down we will point to the poor start, sorry for stating the obvious but its only at the end iod the season that you can fully understand which defeats and drwas were costly. We could ose tomorrow and sty up and if we win tomorrow we can still go down, this one has a few weeks to run still.

We'll be fine. As mentioned above we've taken 31 points out of the last 17 games. If that form was produced over a season it would gain 83 points. Which bodes well for next year.

With the fixtures remaining plus the game in hand we have over most around us. It would take a massive collapse now for us to be relegated.

Personally I think it'll take 56 points to make sure which is 3 wins and a draw

Well that goes without saying, and everyone at the club will know this. Its called "building a squad" and like all building projects, this takes time.

No one is "safe" until mathematically safe...

Totally agree 8 games left, 7 games for some teams...

Until mathematically safe no team is safe...

Teams often go on a 7 no wins run, as have we in the not too distant past.

So to say some team is safe because they are mid table is simply untrue. Everyone is beating everyone right now, if you hit a bad patch at this stage of the season you could go down and be in the top half of the table at the moment...

There are 7 points seperating the third relegation place and 10th in the table... how tight is that...

It makes for a very gripping, tense and potentially exciting end to the season in this division...

Exactly, but some ****** bags on here want a nice new en suite bathroom, a conservatory fitting and one of them big posh American diner fridges all before the brickworks up and the roofs on.

Set of fannys

It says we are shyte and we haven't got a spine to our team, or enough about us to go at teams at home, and not enough consistency, creativity, goals or quality in our team.

In other words it says we are not good enough whether we stay up or not. We've got a long way to go to even be a competitive mid-table or to be just a fairly decent side at this level, who are not just merely making up the numbers and battling to stay up all season.

I'm really unsure how you can say that (considering the fact that we've had promotion form for the last 3.5 months) that the reason we haven't pulled away from relegation is because we are shiit as opposed to everyone else stringing a great run together at the same time. As for the rest, we are competing in mid-table right now. It's basically meaningless.
