Liam_Baggies
Quite disappointed with last night to be honest. I appreciate Nottingham Forest are a good side but I must say I was expecting a bit from the Owls to be honest. The first half was complete garbage. Lita and Wickham couldn't form any sort of cohesion and understanding, the midfield was too far behind the two forwards. Helan was quite ineffective. Coke and Prutton couldn't get near the three Forest lads meaning the reliance on Antonio to provide some attacking threat was always going to be a problem. The second half was better but only because we actually competed. For my liking, there was far too much hoofing the ball. Dave Jones decided a change was necessary and I agree but to remove Connor Wickham, and then decide that we shall spend the majority of the second half firing aimless, long punts in the direction of Leroy Lita against two relatively big centre halves was confusing. I'm not quite sure why. But my theory is that it stems through the two lads in the middle of the park who are in the end not good enough with the ball, for all their hard work and industry. Whenever Coke received the ball in the second half it was an accident waiting to happen and he didn't help himself by running up too many dark alleys. Danny Pugh also had a poor game and I was incredibly surprised that Rhys McCabe wasn't introduced. You've seen a lot more of him than me but I thought someone like him who has a bit more technical ability would have been needed, just to get his foot on the ball and try to create something. For my liking, we were relying on set pieces which proves a bit of a problem when a team like Forest defend them relatively comfortably. There's two tough games coming up which might in honesty suit Wednesday as they'll go into the game expecting to get nothing and I'm sure Dave Jones and his staff will prep the boys the defensively with the counter attack being the most likely option. Coke and Prutton might be enough to get us through until the end of the season, however, it's a position which really needs strengthening in the summer because it was quite painful to watch them both last night chasing shadows - However, I appreciate they haven't done too bad of late and I hope last night was a one off, but the lack of clear cut chances is a cause for concern. gurujuan
I budgeted to get 5 points max from these 5 games. We're still on course to do that
Professor Erno
Was very impressed with forest, they more than deserved the win. Wish that DJ could just for once not blame the officials and hold his hands up to say we were well beaten.
TheEnchanter
To be fair I don't think anyone expects nothing from the next few games. Expectations are always high and sometimes that's our downfall. You're summary of the game is very accurate. The most perplexing thing was indeed Leroy Lita's role. I felt sorry for him, having to deal with that kind of service was disgraceful. Pugh and Llera were guilty of awful hoofing. SallyCinnamon
Agree 100% as usual Liam, spot on. I think if we were going to hoof the ball forward, Wickham should have stayed on, he proved against Derby that he can deal with long balls quite effectively. However, I'm sure DJ doesn't tell them to lump it forward, players need to take some responsibility and be more composed when the supporters yell at them to get it forward. Prutton is a prime example of this, he has the ability to put his foot on the ball and pass it but instead he just aimlessly hoofs it forward in the hope it will fall for us. TaxiMark
Forest have got lots of players with premiership experience, add this to confidence they have now got under BD then you are faced with a very tough side to compete against that said we got it all wrong with the tactics in the first half, we just sat off them allowing them the time and space to set up passes to attack us, Reid in particular was causing us all sorts of problems and clearly he should of been stopped, we left it too late and even at half time it was a big ask. SallyCinnamon
I imagine its been a busy few weeks for Giles Coke aswell, I wouldn't be suprised if his game has been affected.
PeteG_1984
Coke and. Prutton have done very well since coming back into the team and have tightened us up in midfield. But last night showed that against the better teams they lack that bit of quality. For me this justifies Barkley coming back and certainly McCabe getting more action Edited March 3, 2013 by PeteG_1984

Suppose it's understandable. Hope McCabe gets a chance to have a run in the team before the end of the season.

He mentioned we weren't good in the first half, do you expect him to blast his team in the press at this time in the season? He had a point with the referee. Professor Erno
He mentioned we weren't good in the first half, do you expect him to blast his team in the press at this time in the season? He had a point with the referee. We weren't good enough for 90 minutes. The first words out of his mouth were about the ref. The story of the game was not the officiating, it was the gulf in quality. Every time we lose it's the fault of the ref or the lino, apparently.

Guest intercity0wl
the midfield was too far behind the two forwards. Thats has been the problem in 90% of games this season, question is, is it highlighting their limitations at championship level, or is it how they are being asked to play by Management, or both. WayneTheOwl
Whilst we were crap, those 2 decisions from the ref not to give the penalties cost us a point at least. Forest settled for a 1-0. Ref bummed us dry style. Well and truly rumbleed of with officials now.
Beholder
The problems started when we tinkered with the wining formula to shoehorn wickham into the side.

Liam_Baggies
Birth of his child, i think on Thursday. He's just become a dad the other day. Oh. Well that could be a problem but either way, he's still a limited footballer. Some wise words again Liam. Nice to see the examples of "we" and "us" in there a few times too. It doesn't read right when I keep adding "The Owls" and "Wednesday" so I just go for "we" and "us" as it reads much easier.* * - that's my excuse
