Christ, you can tell we were on telly last night.

Don't get me wrong, I know we were woeful last night but some of the reactions on here since are amazing.

Players that have been doing well, or a least an adequate job, are suddenly not good enough. Tactics that have completely stabilised the team are suddenly terrible.

I know we were poo yesterday, but before that we were on an exceptional run. Players and tactics do not become unacceptable overnight. Those of us who have actually been to the majority of games will probably admit that we haven't been exactly ripping people apart, but the tactics have served a purpose and the likes of Coke, Prutton and even to a lesser extent Pugh have all played their part. Sure they have shown limitations of late, especially going forward, but no one was ripping them apart before last night.

We are not automatically a terrible team with terrible players after one defeat, no matter how outclassed we were. Even if it was the only evidence some of you have had to go on in months.

We didn't play any worse than the palace game that we won 1 nil just forest were better than palace in the first half.

The thing is we weren't great against Palace either but we got the points. Our inability to retain possession and create yesterday was poor. I don't think people are being harsh on the boys, it was just a bad day at the office and we got what we deserved. I still think  changes need to be made though because I think things have gone a bit stale.

I disagree a little bit pal, I thought v Palace our defense especially Llera and Gardner were solid, last night our defense looked flimsy, but must admit Forest looked a decent side, although our set up in the first half allowed them too, Reid in particular was allowed to much room and was a constant threat.

Sadly, this season is all about effort, grit and determination. Even though we were outclassed, we hung on and could have pinched a point at the end; and that's how we will stay up this year.

I thought we looked ten times better when we stopped lumping it to Lita.

This. We were solid as a rock against Palace, but limited going forward.

In this game, we were shaky at the back and going forward.

I think sometimes watching the game on tv gives you a better view of the game.

Sometimes you'll come back from a match and think you were all over a team and you should have had 2 penalties and the other side never had a shot.

Come back home and watch it on the tv, or just the highlights anyway and its a bit different.

I think we have been kidding ourselves on a bit.We are a decent side and i wouldn't knock any of the players but in a few positions we do need better players to come in during the summer if we want to play better football and be more consistant.

Its not like every week we've battered teams or played like the wednesday of old.We do have limitations. We do give the ball away a lot.

Its not just a reaction to last night.

It was a frustrating night, but that is part of football. Forest simply have better players than us and are in top form, this allowed them to highlight some of weaknesses. We are still in a survival battle and have some really tough games. The system we are playing is far from ideal but has been grinding out result for nearly 3 months now. Once we are safe we can start to look at long term improvement but for now we need results.

what's sad about having effort, grit, and determination?

i've seen way too many wednesday sides without those characteristics in the past...

the fact is our put together for a price squad has it's limitations...

and those limitations have been, and still are being shown up in m/f...

it seems more often than not we need to go in with numbers in there, and put some work in, to compensate for our lack of quality...

the cure for this was supposed to be adding the fire power up front of conner wickham...

if and when two up don't fire, then the least likely will have to be withdrawn, and we'll have to be tight at the back, and look to nick one...

it's an exceptional season, the sides at the bottom appear unwilling to lie down, and are picking up points all over the place...

it's not a bad performance, considering some of the others since our results turned, in other games we've not torn anyone apart...

it's not that we've dropped a point at home, and seen an end to our unbeaten run, what matters is, how we bounce back...

What I find personally embarrassing is that I've been banging on about how organised we look and how well we work together.  I bring my Dad to the game yesterday - first time in months because of his working patterns - and we were just pathetic.

I think most people are looking at the next 3 games and thinking that there's a very good chance we will be in the bottom 3 in 2 weeks time (I know I am). It is a bit of a worry!

I would gladly take 2 draws out of the games, see where we are and then hope we can get the job done in the run-in.

I would have been happy with 2 draws from Palace and Forest though perhaps we've done ok.

Forest totally outclassed us in the first half yesterday and then squeezed the life out of the match in the 2nd half in typical Billy Davies style - time wasting (and getting away with it) ,players staying down after every challenge etc etc.

4 minutes added on was a complete joke but made little difference really.

My point was that compared to Forest, Watford, Leicester we simply can't match their quality - we are relying on effort, grit and determination for survival. Although we lost, I recognise that the players battled to the end.

It helps if you can actually pass  and control the ball at pace and that players are actually on the move when receiving. Forest players always had options and running into space behind and dropping off our players. They made us look very static in the first half and we never came any where close to matching their 'grit and determimation '. If you're lacking in the skills department, the very least you have to do is to make sure everyone is giving 100% and that wasn't happening last night. At 1-0 we got lucky

By the same token, we are not automatically a good team after going on an unbeaten run. When we were losing lots of games, the margins were fine. Similarly, we haven't been outperforming the teams we've taken points off lately. It's often been close.

In the context of our performances since the turn of the year, last night didn't surprise me that much, or worry me that much, I still think we'll stay up.

However, I don't think Jones really knows how to get the team flowing and we rarely look like scoring from open play at the moment. This might be a problem when we come to the crunch games in April. The team will need to go into those fixtures with some confidence.

My feeling is that when things aren't going well, Antonio feels all the weight is on his shoulders to do something creative (which it is) but this pressure can lead him to chose the wrong option or fluff his lines. We need Helan to find some form again to take the pressure off Antonio.

We also badly need Reda back.
