My take on the game.

Recommended Posts

1st half got completely battered as we couldn't keep the ball up top with our hoof ball strategy, as well as not enough players in the team who could keep the ball.  .  Wickham for me has not had the impact we expected.

2nd half much more fight in the team with the introduction of Lee, JJ, Madine.  forest ran the clock down at every opportunity.  Every tackle we tried to make, they lay on the floor, to stop our play and run the clock down even more. That was at least another 10 minutes easily and the ref gave only 4 minutes.  I was thinking at least 6-7 minutes with the play acting at every chance.  When Helan, JJ or Antonio got past their man they were fouled.

For me Pugh doesnt do enough to influence the game in any form, apart from his set pieces.  Helan has more effect on the game from left back with his pace and Antonio in front of him.

Lee has gotto start each game for me.  He is one of the few players we have who know how to keep the ball more effectively.

JJ has to start the next game in place of Wickam.

DJ made the right changes in the second half and we would have scored if it wasnt for the time wasting, acting and fouling on the pitch.

Yes we lost, but I thought we did well to try and get back in the game especially the final 15-20 minutes.

We have been less effective in these last three games since we changed the system to incorporate Wickham. Not knocking Wickham, though he has looked a bit lost, but we were more effective with a more solid midfield line. Yes we got four points from Palace and Brum, but we seem to have sacrificed some of the control we had.

JJ did himself no favours with that late miss though. Tactically I think he should play as he's hard to defend against when playing behind Lita.. but he has to use the ball better.

It really looked like our final ball was lacking today, that was a problem once we got into the game.

Lee looked great. However, I'm expecting DJ to stick with the defensive outlook in centre mid (ie, Coke and Prutton) that has seen us pick up points lately, if not performances.

I think there are some good points raised here.  For me, Whickham has not had much of an impact but that may not be entirely down to him.  We were very poor in the first half, lets not kid ourselves.  Even in the second half where we definitely improved, we created very few clear cut chances.  Our strikers are still feeding off scraps and this is the problem.

I am pleased that DJ as sured it up and we are a much better side than the team in November, BUT we have to create more chances.  For me, Helan and Antonio were the only two who looked likely to create anything today.

First half Forest passed us to death. By far the better team.

We lost to a better team - fair enough.

Second half the famous Billy Davies tactics were deployed.

Davies, Pulis, McCarthy etc., get the flip out of football!

We need to stop giving the ball away as soon as we get it! Llera for all his defensive work just hoofs it away invariably to the opposition and we are then having to chase the game. Buxton and Pugh didn't have good games, Pugh was caught too narrow far too often and some of Buxton's passing was very poor. Gardener was our best player tonight for me and held the defence together winning most things.

For all the pace and power of Helen and Antonio they really have to do more with the ball. They must scare the crap out of opposing defenders at times but I would love to see them show some composure, we have a great striker in Lita but he needs service from these guys.

I thought the centre midfield were not at the races tonight, whether they had an off game or just not as good as Forest I don't know, maybe the injury Prutts picked up in the first minute was something to do with it.

Not a great game but we improved second half and should have got more, but the ref did us no favours and typical Davis anti football second half didn't help.

Stop the moaning about Billy Davies.

Better team.

Good football.

Took a lead.

Did what they did to keep it.

Good performance.

I wouldn't complain. Excellent away performance.

Can't argue with this. Spot on.

We're still lacking quality and creativity in midfield. This doesn't help, and with it, today would have been a different game. We wouldn't have resorted to lumping the ball up front, or passing it sideways, we'd have passed, and played, our way through them, like they did with us.

We must get our summer recruitment right this time around.

Midfield is the problem.

When Antonio doesn't produce= we don't score.

Simple as that.

I thought jj would have started today, antonio is great but looks v tired

Tell me youre on the wind-up with that last comment. Every single week he's 'tired' according to certain posters. If this is the case why hasnt he dropped dead?

Forest were excellent. Made it look easy. If they play like that in the run in they'll p@ss the playoffs.

I'm trying not to get too down we've come a long way in the last few months.
