Wednesday_Jack
Went to the game last night...thought he was very below par!! Wasteful and just looked out if sorts. I believe he has been suffering with a virus of some sort (??) Is any one else if the opinion that been left out if the starting 11 on Saturday will do him good? I personally think it may just take the expectation off of him but also give him a bit of a nudge in the right direction, to regain form!! By the way this is not a criticism of him for me he has been out shining light at times...top goal scorer and best assist stats bar non!!

BRADDAZ
he provides more behind lita, but thats been scrapped What's this based on? 1/2 games? Antonio was switched against Derby to the wing once Lee was subbed early on. Antonio is an attacking winger, who will do a decent job up front if required. He's played a lot of minutes this season and DJ seems to have a reluctance to take him off in any game. Last night he was struggling big time, be it through poor form, tiredness, illness or whatever, it was easily his worst game for us. I was amazed he stayed on the pitch all game, when he wasn't looking threatening at all, he was actually a causing more harm for us in our attacking play becaus he was losing it every time. I know he can have poor games but still produce a game changing moment but last night he was so far below par that I never got the feeling he was going to do it. Poor from DJ not taking him off IMO. However, if he's feeling good and got rid of this illness he would definitely start Saturday.
richowl
.....and you ended with top goalscorer & most assist. As stated in another thread no Antonio = no goals/no assist/no flair/no creativity. JJ isn't the answer unfortunately. If we had someone with similar credentials to Antonio then I'm all for starting him on the bench no and again but we don't. Alternatively, imagine if we started with a defence/midfield of... Buxton Llera Gardner Reda Lee Prutton Coke Helan Our only hope of a goal would be Reda/Llera header. Edited February 20, 2013 by richowl
BRUCE LEE
Inconsistency is something you have to accept with most wingers, he's been our only attacking option for the majority of the season, all the pressure was on him. Now we have a few more avenues up there with Helan and Lita, maybe he's earned a rest, he will have no doubt covered more ground than any of our players this season. Fair play to him though if he wants to be involved whenever possible.
Wednesday_Jack
I don't think he has been inconsistent but maybe he has just become a little comfy knowing that he starting every week. I'm not having a pop at him because he is/has been out best player this season but maybe it's time for the learning period I.e. drop to the bench for a game or two and work for the position!! He will soon hit top form again in my opinion because seems the type that loves playing, scoring and creating goals!! Plus we may just see a mid season impact from jj!! richowl
jj is the answer,he must start satday instead of antonioJJ is throw though. He as 1 decent game in 10. Suppose he is faster than Bolt though ...Saying that DJ may bring him in & he could have a decent month & earn a new contract....then go missing again. Suppose he is faster than Bolt though He may be very hit and miss but Antonio and Helan were both very miss last night. Antonio could certainly do with an afternoon out of the spot light...IMO it will do he the world of good

You're almost questioning his attitude with the 'become comfy, drop him, earn his place' type angle. I personally put it down to him being off form a little at moment, tiredness and illness may have come into it (especially last night), but even though he's not been at his best this past few weeks, he's still delivered an assist or a goal or both. This is why he starts, because he influences games. I think considering our almost over reliance on him this season and the fact it's his first full season at this level and that he's played almost every minute of every game, he's had a remarkably good season for one still inexperienced and on the young side. Whenever he's fit, he should start. Be it right wing, left wing or up front. There arn't many players who have an impact at this level as consistently as Antonio in terms of goals AND assists. He's our best and most important player. (but DJ should sub him occasionally if hea struggling - like last night)

I actually think JJ has become more consistent over the past two years. But JJ is the type of character that could well have a special month, like he's capable of and get us over the line and keep us up. If that means he then gets another contract then I couldn't give two sh*ts. Give him one.
B.A Baracus
Is this illness story fact? If so, I find it absolutely astounding that a player who was ill prior to kick off and only just made the game, could play THAT bad and the manager not realise he was struggling. Every Wednesdayite there could see how awful he was. Either the illness story is a load of crap or DJ couldn't see the obvious.

He frightened the flip out of them last night. For me JJ is an impact player. Like you say, his pace frightens defences. I'd bring him on with 20 mins to go when Antonio is shagged & the opposition are feeling the pace. In reality Antonio is what JJ should be. Antonio provides the goods whilst JJ flatters to deceive. Guest Fizzypop Joker
if Antonio is faltering a bit i can imagin a swap would be Lee. Hes playing very well atm, and allows up to keep our 4-4-2 shape Kirkland Buxton--Gardener--Llera--Pugh/Reda Deffinatly agree with 'Richowl' in that JJ should only be used as an impact player. Kinda like our own version of Dyer that plays for Leicester. Lee -- Pruton--Coke--Helan Wickham--Lita
