Hi.

Norwegian Owls fan here.

I'm planning to see Owls-Ipswich 20th April with some friends. We'll arrive Sheffield by train from London the day before. Can anyone recommend  a hotel? The price should be reasonable (doesn't have to be "cheap") and located so it's fairly easy for a stranger to get to Hillsborough (walk/taxi/bus...).

And tickets. Can we just buy them match day at Hillsborough? And what stand? We'll be travelling with a kid so preferably somewhere family friendly.

All tips appreciated (also sightseeing)!

Thanks.

This hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the ground. Will cost about £8 in a taxi from railway station to get there. After the game there are a few restaurants in the local area and the Garrison also does food. The greyhound stadium is straight across the road and is a good night out for all the family , racing starts about 7-30ish and you can get food and drinks in there. If you are still in the area on Sunday Kelham Island museum is well worth a look as it shows the history of steel making in Sheffield.

Hope you enjoy your visit to Sheffield, Up the Owls.

Tickets should be available on the day , but book online is possible then pick them up from the ticket office. North stand in my opinion is the best for view and atmosphere. Kop is cheapest and not the best view of the game , again this is my opinion. South is full of over 50's like me who like to be quiet and moan a lot. (joke)

Thank you.

Hotel seems perfect and greyhound races will be a new experience.

I'll probably join the moaners this time. Then things can only get better for my next visits

Even better, book the tickets online and print them off as an e-ticket.
