sherlyegg
Yep happy birthday, so sorry to hear of his illness. I met him once probably about 1971 at Gribbon and Davies a company whom bought restored and sold massive machine tools. John had retired then and was going into the same business. I was a 15yr old apprentice at the time, I asked him about the 66 cup final and other stuff, all the 'suits' were stood round waiting to drag him into a meeting but we had a decent chat and he/we kept em waiting, nice bloke and made me even more wtid

Imre Varadi
I met him whilst waiting to get on a coach to Italy, around 2004. I could see him walking towards us and even a hundred yards away i recognised him, still had that same hairstyle that he had when i first saw him play in 1968. I mentioned a few memories i had of him, including him practically knocking a Coventry player unconscious when Fanthams strike from a free kick, hit him full in the face, unfortunately he didn't expand on anything to do with football, and had no real interest in the game anymore,he was more interested in the Italy trip and the ferry across to Calais. kernowl
My first ever Wednesday shirt had a number ten on the back in honour of Johnny Fantham. It was also a RED number 10. See how i'm mixing my posts here.

victorturner
First barber's shop was at Pitsmoor approx 52 years ago I think. One of his trade marks was the cross field pass and he showed it when he came in after Jim McAnearney was replaced by him. He also had a cannonball shot. A very gentlemanly player, stylish, dignified and fair. Happy Birhday!

David-T
Happy birthday from me as we'll. Went to his shop on Division St the day it opened and I still go there now even though he doesn't have it any more. He was one of a band of true professionals (with Don Megson, Alan Finney, Ron Springett etc. ) who don't get enough recognition. We have tributes behind the South Stand to Brian Laws, Paul Sturrock and even Ozzie Owl, but missed these folks.
