clud17
That's what we have with Wednesday player. Aside from the usual problems with match day coverage why is the quality of the videos so poor. Half the time it looks like they have used a really poo mobile phone and the picture quality of match highlights are shockingly poor. They have my money each month and probably yours too so how about investing it in some better equipment. Neil can you lend them your fan cam until they have sorted it? evaD
Actually, the video quality of Wednesday Player, although not great, is better than most of the other clubs' Player's I've watched.

Rustyfunk
Theres likely nowt wrong witht the equipment. there are isues with video quality though. One is quality of cameraman particularly in interviews, and another is the quality of the compression, which can be really flipping awful, even on 'high quality'. the antonio film thats come out today has some terrible captions/titles, terrible fluctuation in audio levels, terrible edits, and at least one really nasty page turn transition Edited January 30, 2013 by Rustyfunk
clud17
Is the cameraman and production part of the club or just a company that works into all league clubs? Its about time they asked for some feedback from their customers about satisfaction so they can address some of these problems.
Rustyfunk
no idea mate. Always it presumed it was an in house job, and the vids get sent 'as is' to PTV for encoding and upload, but thtas total speculation on my part.

@owlstalk
The Antonio video was put together in about an hour by Mark at the club who does a lot of the press/video stuff at SWFC. Bear in mind there's hardly a wealth of time or people available at the club to do this kind of stuff - this was produced over and above Mark's packed schedule and I think he's done a cracking job. I know the 'stretch' on these lads at the moment - the club hasn't got a massive office full of staff - and the press and marketing lads do a reyt job considering all their obligations and lack of budget. Mark should be complemented on putting together the Antonio story video today and not slated - and then he might be motivated to put other stuff like this together in the future in his spare time instead of doing it for us only to get a slagging. That reply shows that you haven't read my post or how it relates to this thread to be honest Sad that you want to jump in and slag something off like that What was it about the Antonio video that you found not up to scratch Nev ? To be fair, amateur isn't necessarily a derogatory word. If it's not done by professionals, then by definition it's amateur. The word doesn't reflect on the actual quality. :-)

Mr Farrell
Seemed like fair feedback. How will the quality ever improve if everyone pretends its great when its really a bit crap ?

I get that But this was an extra - filmed and put together by someone in a spare hour that he had - and its really good Given the resource and budget at the club we arent gonna get oscar winning movies - and the Antonio film has been done over and above all the Wednesday Player stuff If I were Mark id read this thread and log onto here and tell you all to flip off and would never do another one again Something extra, free, and interesting is created and gets slated by people - some of whom havent even seen it Sad times Owlstalk Shop

Many people forget that our club is still a bit amateur due to years of neglect and lack of investment. Hopefully Mark isn't as mardy as you, and will take the feedback in good spirit. @owlstalk
Is the cameraman and production part of the club or just a company that works into all league clubs?. The content is filmed by already stretched press teams at each club. It has to be done because of obligations to player tv channels - but often on zero budget Owlstalk Shop
Orlando_Trustful
Except the commentary, that I have no issues with anymore and works fine, the rest of Wednesday Player is complete sh!t. The interviews, highlights, highlights commentary, score and table updates during live matches and probably some other things are very poor, and not acceptable when people are paying 40-50 quid for the season. But for people like me it's an essential purchase, if I lived in the U.K no way I'd dream of paying for it. oh_weds_we_love_you
Rather see the pennies spent on the team and stick with average quality videos (though the content is quality - loved the Antonio video).

I get requests to do 'a quick video' at work all the time, and find it quite amusing that folk think you can film, edit and produce and deliver a 5 minute film of any quality, in a couple of hours. You cant and low quality media always reflects badly on the organisation, regardless of how well intentioned it is, IMO - i suspect you understand this too Admitedly i may have been a bit harsh above, i suppose the edit and transition choices are a matter of personal taste but there is no excuse for the audio levels being how they are. 10 minutes spent on this would really have rasied the overall quality by some distance #constructivecriticism
