A sense of optimism

Recommended Posts

I have always mantained that I will try to post in a balanced way where I will criticise where absolutely neccesary and praise when required.  Previously, I have stated that I felt like I was being led up the garden path by MM issuing his mixed messages and that he was putting DJ in a difficult position because of said mixed messages, however, it now appears to be a time for praise.  I must admit that I am a little concerned by the fact that we have not made any permenant signings thus far in the transfer window but praise and acknowledgement must be given to MM for backing DJ with what appears to be some sensible loan signings.

Well done Milan and thank you.

A permanent transfer in January can often be a panic buy and a waste of money, unless the right player is available, loans will always be the way forward for us in this window, as it stands both with the new financial regulations coming into play, and with uncertainty over which division we will be in next year, we simply can't afford to buy a player like Lita.

That may change in the summer once we've had time to move the right players on, but so far the business we've done has been excellent ( for a refreshing change )

Completely agree though, credit where its due, great work by MM and DJ so far.

I cannot remember verbatim what DJ said about the January transfer window, but basically he said that prices became inflated during this period. Maybe with this in mind neither MM or DJ found a target at a realistic price.

Instead we have signed 3 very good players on loan until the end of the season, at which point we can look for permanent signings. We may even have the right to buy any of the loan players too, and now we can see them play and assess them over the next 3.1/2 months, so I think it makes good business and financial sense,

January transfer window is just one huge splurge for money grabbing players agents (particularly in the premiership) However, for those outside of the top flight it is a great opportunity to get in the right loan players and as mentioned above assess them over a good three month period to see if they are worth the (considerably less inflated) money that may be required to secure their services during the summer break. Try before you buy so to speak.
