Charlton Manager post match interview

Recommended Posts

What a miserable guy Chris Powell is.    He moaned about how he could not understand why they didn't win the game....Wednesday were not in it, it was all Charlton etc etc.      No mention of any credit for the away team that beat them on the day.

The stats say it all.

Whilst the game was far from a classic which wasn't a whitewash- there's no doubt from where I was stood, that we were the better team.

Seriously - how can we have had stats like that in the game, and have "not been in it"? We had more possession, more shots (on and off target) and more goals.

Yeah they hit the woodwork a couple of times but we missed an open goal and had a couple of decent opportunities as well. Moron

Disliking Charlton more and more with each time we play them

Said at the match that he is one of those who says whatever he wants, knowing that any clip on the TV will disprove what he says as it is so minimal. For example after the home game he said that they had a goal ruled out for offside which was miles onside. That makes anyone not at the game think 'oh, how unlucky at Charlton?'.

You can't do it in the premier league as every game is analysed in detail, but in the football league you can effectively re-write history. Apart, that is, from the score (quite an important bit really)

Don't take it personally.

It's footy coach speech. He accountable to CAFC not SWFC.

I think every manager, fan and players sees it differently when it was fairly balanced. We had more of the play but they had chances and hit the post and the bar.

Ive met Powell. Genuinely nice bloke.

Brian Clough said it only takes a second to score a goal. They put us under pressure, but I felt we weathered the storm for a five or ten minute period and then we broke away and had one or two efforts. One hit the post, but I am like everyone else and it is amazing how it happened.”

Sure Cloughy also said that a game lasts for 90 minutes not 86

Powell will be out of a job before long, his brand of spoiling tactic's only work for so long.

Nice to see Wednesday play them at their own game, and come out on top.

Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.

He's only saying what all managers say when they end up on the losing side. Who these days gives any credit to the other team for being better on the day? The stats show that we were better on the day in all departments.
