Just got back/player ratings?

Kirkland- 6. (Basically didn't have a save to make really. No chance with the goal- they caught us on the counter and we were all over the place.)

Buxton- 7 (The usual. Solid as a rock and cliamed another assist with a good cross for Reda's headed goal. Mr Reliable.)

Llera- 6.5 (Solid defensively. Gave the ball away quitr a bit but our defensive unit is relatively sound now.)

Gardner- 7 (As per Buxton. Won some key headers in and around our six yard box.)

Reda- 7 (His positioning and concentration sometimes worry me. Then I remember...f**k it, he's Reda. For every mistake he makes, he more than makes up for it at a later point.)

Lee- 6 (Quiet going forward but brings great balance to the team and helped Buxton out a lot by doubling up on the tricky Wagstaff.)

Prutton- 6 (Didn't have much possession but filled in gaps well after we made our subs and went to two out and out wingers.)

Coke- 7 (Great on the ball. Fantastic ball retention and broke forward a couple of times with real energy. Like having a new signing in central midfield he has been that good recently.)

Pugh- 6 (Same as Lee but add in some very good set pieces too. Great left food even if he doesn't have the explosive pace of Helan.)

JJ- 5.5 (Didn't have his shooting boots on to put it politely, and struggled to get into the game...didn't let his head drop though like in the past. Looks to me like he has grown up a lot recently tbh.)

Antonio- 6 (Standard Antonio performance. Lots of energy, looks like he blowing out of his ar*e from about 10 minutes in and yet runs himself into the ground every week.)

Subs:

Lita- 7 (Love the guy already- has a Tudgay-esque leap on him even though he's small and won a load of headers. Very strong, very mobile and rolls defenders easily. Seemed to love his goal too!)

Madine- 6 (Decent after coming on- worked his knackers off, ran the channels well and gave our defenders more of an out-ball than Antonio and JJ had done.)

Semedo- N/A. (Just got a few seconds at the end.)

Jones- 7 (Right decisions at the right time with substitutions.)

In general? Wasn't a pretty game and as I posted in another thread, a lot of the game was more League 1 than Championship. We got a bit lucky that they hit the inside of the post at 1-0 up through Wagstaff...but I don't remember Kirkland having much to do all game so whilst we didn't play particularly well, Charlton certainly can't claim to have deserved the win either.

Other:

The Johnson/Johnson song is class and will catch on.

Michael Morrison doesn't have one chip on his shoulder, he has a whole tray of them.

Cheers for that. It sounds as if it was a bit of a battle, most of our games are at the moment and perhaps a point wouldve been fair. But we didnt get our deserts last week and hopefully this makes up for it.

7 or so more smash and grabs would suit me just fine. Although, could we not have scored in the first half too? Gardner and Reda?

So glad Morribogs didnt score.

Yep, it was a weird game tbf- it could have very easily been 3-3 and yet there were hardly any chances created in open play, especially in the first half.

Reda's chance looked to be an open goal and he should have scored. Gardner had a free header from 4 yards and managed to f**k it up. They weren't even just two 'good chances' they should have been two goals.

Likewise, they hit the bar in the first half when it was easier to score(might have actually been one of our players who bullet headed it at our own goal?!)  and Wagstaff's shot was probably an inch away from hitting the post and going in rather than popping back out.

Writing that back, it sounds like there was a lot of goalmouth action. But huge swathes of the game were completely uneventful and even out of those chances listed above, three of the four came directly from set-pieces.

I don't recall Kirkland making a save. And I don't think Hamer had more than one or two saves from Lita and Antonio to make either.

As you say though, I'l take a few more scrappy wins until we reach 50 points!

Kirkland - 6 - little to do really.

Buxton - 7 - got the run around by Wagstaff a bit today who was a threat for them but got a higher rating for his fantastic cross for Reda's equaliser.

Llera - 7 - solid.

Gardner - Solid

Reda - 7 - great goal, defended well for the most part, especially when he was exposed after Pugh went off as Antonio didn't give him as much cover.

Pugh - 6 - Steady Eddie. Kept the ball well, corners need improving a bit as mainly down the keepers throat.

Coke - 8 - MOTM. Calm on the ball, passed it well, intelligent decisions and broke up play. Very impressed.

Prutton - 6 - Worked hard, did his job and broke up play and a couple of excellent tackles.

Lee - 6 - Solid as ever.

JJ - 6 - frustrating for the most part, struggled to get into the game at times but the boggy pitch didn't help. Much better hen switched to the wing and great assist for Lita.

Antonio - 7 - Ran his socks off, caused problems, unlucky not to score and again pitch didn't always help him make runs with the ball.

Lita - 7 - At last, a proper striker. Won headers, got shots in on goal and rewarded with his goal. He'll easily get more goals for us.

Madine - 6 - Worked hard when he came on, out himself about and was a handful.

Thought Buxton had a real off game today but redeemed it with a great cross for reda. Same re jj - but also redeemed with the great run for the winner

It was a pretty even game but we really went for it after about 55 mins (the lita sub being key).

Pretty much agree with the ratings already in

5 more wins for me plus a few draws. Doesn't sound as I unachievable now plus quite a few more dropping into it.

Definitely true- I realise we were chasing the game and therefore had to throw caution to the wind a little bit, but Antonio was clearly knackered and left Reda facing two attackers on three different occasions.

Not really anybody's fault per se- Antonio was extremely tired and we were desperate for a goal at that point...but it was a reminder that you can't get away in the Championship with wingers who don't offer any defensive cover, whereas last season we got away with it against a lot of teams.

I have to say that the work ethic of the team is fantastic at the moment. Even when we are behind their's some battle and fight about them.
