Space behind the Kop - Ideas

Hi

I've been bored this evening watching the poor Southampton v Everton game and the future matchday thread inpired me.  I've been particuarly thinking about the space we have behind the Kop and what we could do with it

We must be the only club in the country with a tree in our stand, we should dig out this mound and add more bars/ facilities

My dream idea is to have a number of themed bars (Sheridan lounge, Springett arms Olsens left peg etc...) at the front where you can both drink AND enter the ground, these could then be open all the time for further income. This would be especially good after matchday.

I knocked up a few images below (Excuse the quality, im on the pad mouse thing on my laptop)

First one shows a fully roofed exterior (This will be more expensive id imagine), I'm thinking a dual flor concourse, one upon entry, the other where the the steps up the kop get too.

Second one is based on the same idea but he cheaper option of having a huge balcony for the upper concourse (good for you smokers)

These are just pipe drams and not to scale (IE the top entrance at the SE corner of the kop is higher than the middle)

Cracking ideas, some of the improvements talked about and planned when we put thw World cup bid in looked fantastic.

Im sure many owls fans would have some great suggestions to put forward. No money to do it though, would take colossal funds and our chairman isnt going to prioritise on this, hopefully in the future though!

I know its just a pipedream but I'm a sad indiidual who enjoys this kind of thing.

We are desperte for some ground upgrades tho, the catering especially in the North & Kop are terrible

Shame because teh stadium is the best looking in the country IMBO

I think we should make more of our historic round, a timline down the south stand would be great with pics of the WC 66, Euros 96, Pele playing at Hills, Disaster (Unfortunately but its still in the history), Wycombe game etc...... would be great for home and away fans alike

Wednesdayite should do a Yeovil and invest in a marque with a license for match days and set it up on the car park

This is something we have genuinely looked at - and unfortunately as we only lease the car park on match days we would have to erect and take down the marquee every week - and even if we didn't the security involved in such an idea would make it impossible to leave unsupervised.

I hear this argument all the time but whats the benefit of DV over Hillsborough?

Surely its cheaper to update than to completely rebuild DV

Its not as if DV is close to being decent, the roof needs replacing and the stands would need moving....

Mike, I'm sure it would if you go far enough but you could dig as far as you need (IE: The back of the stand) and re-inforce with concrete to 'keep it all in'

1 place then the car park next club shop and give up some spaces in the Wednesdayites car park - profit share with club and community fund ;)
