Guest Fulham Fox
I just got back from freezing in the Shed end watching Chelsea throw away a comfortable 2 goal lead to draw 2-2 with Southampton. (Before anyone comments, SWFC were not playing tonight so I am allowed) Then I started thinking of similarities - Chelsea 1. Many fans still belong to the cult of a former player, who was sacked despite being hugely popular with the fans 2. He has been replaced by someone who the fans have never really got behind from day one and a small vocal minority are actually calling for him to leave. (almost regardless of results!!!!) 3. The fans are much quieter these days and actually boo some of their own players (hard to believe, I know) 4. They have a talented striker who seems to have lost his first touch altogether and seems incapable of a shot on target. 5. They have a foreign owner who has put his heart and soul into the club but still receives rude remarks from a few mis-guided souls. 6. They play in blue. Wednesday ?????? Nah....maybe its just my imagination...maybe there are no similarities at all.

theowlsman
Ah, let me reminisce. Going to Stamford Bridge and beating Chelsea. They were the days. Spot the dog. Celery, celery, if she don't cum, tickle her bum, with a stick of celery Blue is the colour, football is the game, we're all together, and winning is our aim Cheer us on through the sun and rain, for Chelsea, Chelsea is our name. Chopper Harris etc Sorry, what was the question?

Pulsar
Always remember our tussle with 'em in the 83/84 promotion season where they pipped us to the title on goal difference. At the time, i was early teens but i always thought we were considered the bigger club. Certainly had far bigger crowds. Seriously! You wanna see some of their attendances when they were struggling in the second. Always had a soft spot for them for some reason. Except for Paul 'phookin' Cannoville. Not sure about any similarities but we are S6 and they are SW6

Guest Fulham Fox
Things have changed a lot. Very little english spoken around me. The celery was still in evidence but the lad called Abdullah who threw it was ejected by stewards. In answer to the chant by Southampton "where were you when you were poo ", the poll results were a dead heat between Mecca and Guantanamo

Beholder
The 'cult of megson' are just a minority of saddo's stuck in a rose tinted view of the past which taints their view of the present: The achievements of his successor outweigh his own. The 'cult of Di matteo' have a point: He won the champions league!! His successor is their arch enemy! It's not even close to being a true comparison. Ronio
Differences: - They have a shed load of money, we don't. - They have an owner who will spend 50 million on 1 player, we can't afford 750k. - They don't play in stripes. - Chelsea players are pure mercenaries funded by billions worth of russian oil. - Wages are not a problem for them either. theowlsman
Can you remember Mark "Rapper" Raper? He was a Chelsea hooligan. Him and my sister's ex-boyfriend used to travel from Sheffield to join up with their nutters. Used to play football with them both for Gatefield Social Club

I see your point, but I must confess Megson's win at S6 against the vermin was far more important in the scheme of things to me, than Chelsea lifting the CL trophy. The two are totally different emotions for me. No similarity at all.
Guest Distraught!
none really , but the difference is they got lucky with Abramovitch , Aye, to the point they have made themselves entirely financially reliant on that one man. Wait until Abramovich is no more the owner of Chelsea. Wait for the legacy that he leaves behind. Billions of debt that cannot possibly be financed. Huge negative equity. Huge financial meltdown. The money is owed to Abramovic. If he leaves he takes his debt with him, I assume. However, the club will have contractual obligations (players contracts) to honour and if no new owner steps in then administration may result in creditors getting 10p in the pound and Chelsea start again debt free. Simples.
33
You aren't allowed to disagree with Beholder. He'll bring up the fact that we've won a couple lately and managed to scrape a noteworthy draw against a classy L1 side who's class eventually managed to overcome us in the replay. All this will be totally forgetting that we have been poo since game 4 of the season down your way at Palace and that DJ made a number of massive errors along the way. TBF, Jones has hopefully seen the error of his ways and started to manage properly, if Hull was evidence of what is to come, much to the delight of everyone including his doubters. Good old Beholder has steadfastly kept his DJ tinted goggles on and accepts no quarter be given in his defence of all things Jonesy. I'm only surprised he hasn't started another 'I told you so' thread after Bothroyd managed to do his job properly for one game as well, last night. Naughty boy Mr. C, very naughty indeed, talking about Meggo in anything other than disparaging terms. Glad you enjoyed your evening in that there cosmopolitan SW Landinn...! . Simples. Aye, simples. Except just watch the mighty fall. The administrators trying to sell off any assets that have any monetary value like the real estate to service the debts. All this while the club faces FA imposed financial irregularity penalties that might mean, as a newco, the club starting at the bottom rung of the English game a la Glasgow Rangers.
