Heyup - Doesn't it feel good today!!

I went to watch Tranmere play Crawley. Liam played the whole 90 minutes in centre midfield and I would honestly say that he covered more grass than anybody else on the pitch. This is a difference from his more languid style that I think we were seeing last year. I guess the difference must be fitness. He looks like a racing snake and was just everywhere. Quality-wise I think he is proven now at League 1 - which (according to an interview in the programme) was his first aim this season - after being in and out with us last year. I admire his realism there. He's doing a great job for Tranmere and is very popular. If he can keep this level of fitness and energy up and continue to improve passing/decision making then we might get a nice midfielder in the Championship. He's still only young.

Best player on the pitch was Bakayogo (as he was when I saw Tranmere v Chesterfield in December). He's undoubtedly fit for a higher league.

Mike Jones played for Crawley and was tidy without really threatening. This pretty much sums up Crawley to be honest.

Anyway - just thought you'd be interested!

What a way to finish the day though - back in time to see that annihilation of Hull on the telly-box!

Up the Owls!

I suppose it'll remain to be seen whether Palmer will come back in the summer and then challenge for a place in the Wednesday team, but so far this loan seems to be working out brilliantly.

I can't remember the last time we loaned out a player to aid their development (rather than just with a view to sell and/or keep up their fitness), and it actually work out in this way.

To be the apparent linchpin in a team which has stood at the top of the division below for almost the whole season seems to me to be about as good as you could imagine such a loan to go.

I just hope he can help Tranmere to see the job through now.

It is great to see. Seems to have the right attitude about it all too.

Regardless of whether Tranmere are successful in promotion, the loan will have been a success

The wages bit was interesting.

Dave Jones mentioned there was interest from a lot of other clubs in January for Palmer.  Only fair that Tranmere cough up a bit more cash since we've let him stay the full season.  I'd expect us to do the same for a quality loan signing too.

Thanks, great to here. Think Palmer has a great future with us and his spell at Tranmere looks to have been a fantastic thing for all concerned.

Out of interest, the Mike Jones at Crawley - it that the Mike Jones we signed from Bury? If so, I didn't even know he'd left us!!

Yep - same Mike Jones. He got a good response as he's an ex-Tranmere man too.

Was thinking a couple of weeks ago that I wouldn't mind seeing a tranmere game see how he's getting on, even more tempted now !

Glad to hear he's doing well over there, Tranmere at home vs pigs 29th March just sayin

Got to say I will particularly enjoy that one from the Family Paddock with my 6yo. He's half owl and half Rovers at the moment. I could cheer the full time from the Stain with double enjpyment when it was announced!

I'd missed that article. Nice one - cheers. Robinson's a great player for them - always an outlet and usually does the right thing with the ball. If I was DJ out shopping I'd look at him (though he's old) ) and Bakayogo (for sure). The other player they have is the young captain (Wallace) who is out injured. They got him in from Everton and he looks a Championship player to me. He did his knee v Chesterfield and can't seem to get fit again. Hoping he manages to get over it cos he has potential and he's a natural born leader (a thing I think we might particularly lack)..

Good player, but James Wallace is a REAL star in that team.

Can't believe he's only 21 - he bosses the team like Mick Lyons! This knee thing is a big worry for him though.

With Wallace out they've had a kid with an amazing name filling in - Max Power! He looks a decent prospect too - he's only played a few games and he's caught between 'holding' and 'eye-for-goal' at the moment - depending on what Ronnie Moore is screamimg at him. He could settle into a decent midfielder. Very early days though.

Main thing is my boy thinks he's a super hero. I mean - Max Power! Ludicrous.

I'd like to see DJ shopping for young types like this rather than washed up loanees but if we are winning I'm happy,
