Pulsar
Was reading a few reactions today from Hull fans just to make sure i wasn't dreaming and we did actually beat them comfortably and deservedly at their place I came across this interesting post; "It’s also interesting to note how much Sheff Wed and their fans are creaming themselves over beating us. I know we’ve been better than them for the best part of a decade now – but still it's a good barometer to how we’ve come on in recent years. Funny, I was looking on one of their forums earlier in the week and one of their own said that they thought Blackburn (along with Forest and TWS) were a bigger club than them. For a split second, I considered registering to remind them that they’re about twice the size of a club as Blackburn – but couldn`t be arsed. I’m assuming this was a young fan of theirs no doubt swayed by recent history – which I guess also relates to my initial point" I got to thinking that us 'older' fans have maybe found the last 15 lean years a little harder to deal with than the younger ones? Maybe we were spoiled by the Big Ron cultured football days and to a lesser extent but no less exciting, the Wilkinson era. That said i can recall the latter end of the 70's 3rd Division days so i have dealt with the struggles a bit more easily. Any fans under 20 though wouldn't know any different would they? So the Cardiff play off, United double and the near flirt with the play offs under Brian Laws would no doubt be the highlights in their Owls 'supporting career' Would anybody on here actually believe Blackburn are a bigger club than us though FFS! Pulsar
And this one made me chuckle: Remembering it's not so long ago that clubs like Sheffield Wednesday used to turn us over home and away season after season. Perhaps you are too young to remember those days but believe me if we avoided defeat and got home from the match without having our heads kicked in it was a major achievement. Its not like that now. How many other Yorkshire teams have beat us this season?
The Dukeries Owl
Blackburn had a few years in the sun disposing of Jack Walkers millions to buy a League title. They are now beginning to sink back to the reality of their core fanbase and 2nd tier mediocrity as their rightful home. When the Venkys realise they can't make them into Real Madrid they'll be offski and the administrators will come knocking as when the parachute payments dry up their fanbase cannot support their wage bill. Guest Wilf Marshall
Yeah they don't have a big fanbase. Venkys are absolute clowns. Why on earth did they go for Appleton with the compensation aswell. When we were talking about managers to replace DJ I don't think anyone mentioned him. They haven't a clue. Why on earth did they sack Allardyce? Traditionally they are 2nd tier but of course won the prem in 95.
Blueblood
Tbh I have to agree. It's come to something when we're creaming ourselves over beating little teams like Hull. It really does show what a terrible season we're having

It really does show what a terrible season we're having TBF they have thrown a few bob at the squad for this season, there is no way we could have afforded the little Ginger one from the lane for instance, so defining little is not so easy. I think our goalie just shades it over theirs though.

Guest Wilf Marshall
When we were in the prem they were struggling in the 4th division. They followed an inverse trajectory to us.
TaxiMark
'Wednesday are a big club, always have been, I even fear playing them even when I know we seem to be the better team nowadays, Hillsborough scares the shits out of me even now and I remember when it was mob rule going to Sheffield, scary days them, but you're too young to remember, when I said I wanted to watch us away at Wednesday my dad always said you're not going and if you do sneak off do not go on their Kop, big respect from me to Wednesday' [fuzzy] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Come on here (kop) if you think you're hard enough'

CentreCircle
I was at hull and it was a super performace from the lads, the atmosphere was brilliant, my man of the match by a country mile was Kieran Lee, very decent.
Eightace
I don't think of hull as a big club but they are a lot bigger than i remember them years ago. I creamed myself over the win because we played well not because we beat a big club.
OxonOwl
Echoing other comments here but we are not ecstatic about beating 'Hull', we are ecstatic that after a poor first half of the season we have outplayed and beaten an in form team sat second in the division. lincolnowl
Since the formation of the PL we haven't been even close to winning it. Blackburn have, beating off the best Man Utd side of the modern era IMO. That deserves respect, no matter how they came to be in such a position. Their fan base is TERRIBLE though. oh_weds_we_love_you
To be fair, Blackburn are a more decorated club in terms of honours than we are (3 top flight titles, 6 FA Cups and a Leaguie Cup; only one of those trophies was in the Jack Walker years I think) - and they are only a town (and have both Manchester clubs and Liverpool only a stones throw away), so their success is a great achievement (and the fan base isn't too bad given the size of their population and size of the surrounding clubs).
