asteener1867
Went to the Lads yesterday for the game....I usually have a tenner a week for betting...all me bets went west with the 3 o clock kick offs...so decided to put me last 2 quid on Hull...(I fookin' know..its disloyal yadayadayada)....any road up the daughter in law said... "Go on then Gregor Traitorelli"..so i couldn't bring meself to do it....so I dumped it on us...won £13....
Guest majorclakent
I dont see the issue with betting against your own team. some people do like to take the moral high ground saying its disloyal and such but the way i see it , it is a win win situation. Although having lived in sheffield for the last 4 years i have gained a soft spot for wednesday i am in fact a gillingham fan, and the year we last got relegated (09-10), i usually bet a tenner against us every away match. This co-incided with the period of team that we didnt win on the road for 18 months. Going into the last day of the season we were 35-1 to get relegated. Yes, that is correct, 35/1. Needless to say we bottled in and got relegated but i was 350 notes better off for it, and although peeved that we went down it was some nice comfort money to drink away the pain. Likewise betting for your team seems like a lose lose situation - unless its a few quid here and there rather than substantial betting.
Lee A
Made a good few quid betting against Wednesday at times, doesn't mean I'm happy we lost, just means I can afford to drown my sorrows that night.
Guest majorclakent
precisely. Although sometimes i have been caught up in a few moral decisions. Once quite memorably when the gills were playing Bury, and were 1 nil up, i needed bury to score to win 100 quid on a both teams to score coupon. If truth be told i was rooting for bury that day. Not sure if that makes me a bad fan but money is money.
ronior
I just couldn't bring myself to back against Wednesday, even if I'm sure we'll lose. I put £10 on us to win yesterday at 9/2. That is a massive price for any team in the Championship, given the unpredictability of the division. It was a delightful way to make £45 profit. 3mps
I always bet against us, it's an easy win win sutuation for me, last night cost me a fortune but I do like the 3 points... Remember at the derby last season what I had built up over a few days around £200 iirc I lumped on UTD to beat us at hillsborough, people thought I was mad when I was happy that I lost the £200 but they obviously don't know what it means to win a derby and take 3 points in such a big game... musingowl
Worst I've done is back us to draw in an accumulator and we've gone and bleedin won. Typical.
mattitheowl
It's win win. We lose, you get something to drown your sorrows with. We win and you don't care about the money. I do it nearly every week. Needless to say I'm up for the year! Just not bothered...
H2Owl
I never bet either for or against Wednesday. Occasionally i might have the odd couple of quid on first goalscorer but that's it.
Maddogbob
It's all about your heart ruling your head, to be decent gambler you've got to take any emotion out of it. I myself managed to make a few quid this season betting in play on us when winning and betting against us. Watford at home landed a very nice profit
OxOwl
I some times Bet against us .Nowt worse then walking out the ground with ya last fiver in ya pocket rest of the lads brassic too on damp cold neet after a 3 nill loss. But collecting something form Will Hill on Hillsborough corner just gets you that curry or a few jars int spring after UTO Tigers Done now bring on them pesky Wovles !
