The man has brought in 14 players in the closed season. Admittedly the vast majority are sh!t but it's still 14 players brought in. If MM said no more would you blame him?

Personally I think he should bring in players such as; Wellens (Leicester), Cotterill (Doncaster) and Tudgay (Forest). Players that won't cost a bomb, should probably cost £1m tops and should be able to sort us out.

The three you mention are exactly the same as those we brought in on the cheap pre season, its quality ambitious signings we need, not more averageness, but will probably end up with more players exactly like who you mention.

We shouldn't make any more transfers.

How can we think about buying more players when we already have a large squad and also the small matter of the fact that we are still making a loss.

I am as disiilusioned with everything about this season as most.

However, it's Milans money - if he is happy to gamble on this clubs Championship status then the reality is there is little or nothing any of us can do about it.

Cannot think of many SUCCESFULL CUBS AT THIS LEVEL., if any who are not making a loss, its what comes with trying to reach the promised land.

That's right, but if they don't make the promised land they end up in the poo poo, just like we did previously.

Dave Jones started his building process at Cardiff with Gabbidon, Jerome and Ramsey who were sold for millions - He brought in Chopra and Loovens and they later went for £7.5m between them.

He had inherited quality assets already to sell and plough a certain amount of the funds generated back into the squad - he was successful doing that.

However, unlike Cardiff, we have no real assets upon which he can trade - maybe two or three years down the line if development players reach potential but certainly not at the moment.

Maybe with the £1.5M or so available at the beginning of the season, Milan had hoped DJ would bring in some similar quality that Jones identifed in Loovens and Chopra - it has not worked and apart from Kirkland and Antonio & maybe Gardner we have no substantive asset that could bring in anymore than say £250,000 apart from maybe Reda and Madine.

We are back to square one IMO with Championship status in the balance.  If Jones' remit is to build then we need to prepare ourselves, if not in this window then over the summer to lose the likes of established fans favourites Reda and Madine who maybe could command more.   I am resigned to losing Llera and Semedo for peanuts.

Ultimately as with any project, cashflow to continue the process is critical or you end up going backwards.

I would be astonished if someone with MM's experience had put all his eggs in one basket and gave the entire seasons budget to Jones in one go and did not reserve any contingency for January, to be used if we found ourselves in this position.

If no-one comes in to freshen it up at the very least up front even if we cannot move players on in this window, then we are in for a white knuckle ride up to the last day of the season.

I am coming to the conclusion that anyone with experience and championship pedigree coming in to bolster the desperately defensive midfield will have to be viewed as a bonus...

Great post. If no players come in then I can't see us staying up. To be honest, if players can't be brought in, then the next best option is a change of manager. Someone who could motivate and get more out of current players, would be better in the long run and better than losing players for peanuts only to bring in equally as poor players or even poorer ones.
