The reason the players signing threads were bumped...

Recommended Posts

Today I'd like us all to just chill out from the frenzy of why we've not signed Messi and how Dave Jones should be executed and have a read of some of the older threads about when the players were signed, their welcome (or not) and what fans were thinking and saying about them

Valuable reading there.....

i may do...  the majority were positive comments about all signings some of which have just turned into nightmare signings.... i think most fans have now just had enough of seeing the potential thats arrived at the club over the summer and then in terms of loans that have now gone back and are so so dissappointed in how they turned out...... Because of this there is so much negativity surrounding this Transfer Window.....  IMHO.

If our signings really have been that bad then the fans shouldn't be screaming for more - they should be screaming for us NOT TO SIGN ANYONE !!

They are

Have a read of the old threads about when we signed new players for SWFC

You might see a few comments from yourself about the signings in question

lol

Actually, one of the notable things for me personally is that I hardly commented in any of them. Unlike some, I'm prepared to admit that I don't know all that much (often bugger all) about a player randomly generated from the league database. Let's face it, for the last decade or so our budget has necessitated us shopping in places where most of what's on sale falls squarely into the 'never heard of it' category.

No doubt Neil will be criticised for this endeavour but I think it's a valuable reflection on just how little we know collectively. According to us, Bothroyd would be fabulous, Rodri inspired near orgasm and Helan would be terrible. Hmmm...

When we get new signings we are like giddy school kids at Christmas, we'd make the best of anything we are given.

Even the signing of Sidibe had a few positive posts.

However this doesn't detract from the fact that most of the signings made over the summer and to this point in time have not worked.

It's not being negative, or being a bad fan or whatever you want to call it, it's just stating that so far Dave Jones' transfer activity has been dreadful.

sorry but I don't understand the thread bumping...

it's made me more depressed in fact reading at how excited we were for bothroyd & rodri & what massive disappointments they've been lol

Or that we lost Terry Burton

Fans get excited about new signings because a professional football manager deems them an improvement on what there club already has. While ever the general performance of the manager earns the trust now of the fans this will be the case more or less whoever he signs.

The manager has a greater level of football knowledge than the average supporter and had access to special information - can scout the player himself or through staff, can see the player in a trial etc.

I don't find the argument of 'see you liked them too' overly persuasive in defending our recruitment.

It always amazes me when people comment strongly on players they probably know very little - or nothing- about. Could he do a job for us? Frankly f*ck knows. The last transfer window is a great lesson for us all.

However, regardless of what we fans think about players - spunkfest or downer -  it's the management's job to do proper research and to get it right.

lol

I remember buying a Fiat Mirafiori once.

And it was sythe.

I thought about never buying a car again.

Then I thought, no, I need a car and I will make sure I buy a better car next time

I once hired a Vauxhall Astra and it was not very practical for the job I was doing.

Next time I hired  a Vauxhall Astra van as it was more appropriate.

sythe is really 'shyte'

I look back on these experiences and think ' I learned from my mistakes '.
