Formations/ team selection

Firstly, why did we change it from the Charlton home match? That game we had 2 proper strikers up front, antonio and Helan out wide and it worked well. Today as soon as I heard we had only one proper striker playing I was a bit worried. Madine and O'Grady/Sidibe should've been the front line, Antonio is never a striker.

It worked well away from home but thats because we could sit deep and hit teams on the break with Antonio and Helan. Gotta be 4-4-2 at home Dave with 2 PROPER strikers, hope thats a lesson learned.

Don't know what's going on with Madine. Thought he looked good vs Charlton then Jones drops him for another 3 games.

Incredible that Sidibe get's given the nod instead.

Have a feeling it maybe something behind the scenes. EIther personality differences, or Jones doesn't think Madine's working hard enough in training.

He's the best striker we've got right now.

Forget the formations, they need to stop DJ doing interviews after the match.

He makes Irvine sound insprational and exciting. About as interesting and lively as a bowl of cold sick.

Stu Gray needs to do the post match interviews from now on.

Good post from the OP. DJ Got it very wrong today.

He scored against Bolton but Sidibe is one of the worst centre forwards Ive ever seen at Hillsborough.

We are crying out for a proper striker and an experienced midfield player that can get hold of games.

Impressed with Helen again today. Hope we get him till end of season.

Helan does look good. Seems he's got the beating of him man everytime he gets the ball, and unlike Antonio he sticks to the left and goes on the OUTSIDE of his man and puts the ball in.

Needed to get the ball to him more today, especially with Antonio having an off day.

Got to agree mate and sitting too deep and inviting them on to within 40yards of our box before attempting to make a tackle is suicidal.

Thought the formation today was a joke, at home to a team not too far above us and we start with 6 recognised defenders in mattock, helan, liera, gardener,Buxton and lee, playing 2 of them out of position in midfield ( both actually performed credibly compared to others ), whilst we had established midfielders both on the bench and playing up front instead. When subs were introduced later, removing prutton for jj, again this was so wrong as it left just McCabe in the centre. It was truley awful today, in a way though probably what we needed so that Milan didn't start to believe that the squad was adequate enough to cope after recent results.
