Guest chapeltom
I'm just thinking ahead, a week or so to the match. Its a 12:30 kick off, what time train are people planning to get? Quicker for me to go via Manchester, but probably go out via Sheffield and back via Manchester... Been to Huddersfield once only and no idea about the pubs, 2 JDW and 2 on the platform and that's it. Where will we be allowed to drink? Trains of course are 7:36, 8:36, 9:36, 10:36 (that's probably too late) taking 1hr 13. 2 carriages all the way, gonna be packed surely? Why was it moved anyway? Cheers Tom Edited December 21, 2012 by chapeltom
Ever the pessimist
Moved on police advice. I don't like huddersfield away. Crap boozers, nightmare journey (considering it is only 30 miles away), police treat us like we are milwall.. .
Joe M
Anybody with a brain goes via Wakefield. Then visits the Snooty Fox for a mosh on the way back. It's also possible via Leeds, but that'd mean going to Leeds. Edited December 21, 2012 by Joe M

Joe M
On here? No. We have to be told which train to catch and which Weatherspoons to go in
Guest chapeltom
On here? No. We have to be told which train to catch and which Weatherspoons to go in I've never done Huddersfield away, just don't see the point in getting say 8:36 train and finding Wednesday fans can't go in any of the pubs... slow83
I live in Huddersfield, if you want a great pub serving top beers near the station, try the Sportsman. Walk out of the station to the main road, turn left and walk under the viaduct and the pub is right there. Address is 1 St Johns Rd, HD1 5AY

I am a fan of my cask ales.

Went last season on the 7:36 train, caught it at Chapeltown. quite busy on it, got to Udders at 9:00 and the Police were fine, pointed out a nice Weatherspoons for us with a light escort, lovely breakfast in there,Half a dozen pints, good sing song went to the game. Top result , top day out.

Owl_in_Hudds
Try and avoid the pubs on the way to the ground and the top end of town near train/bus stations if you can, there are 2 'spoons' in town - The cherry tree is a few hundred yards from station, go to bottom of main square, turn right and its on your left. The other (Lord Wilson) is down at the bottom of town near the Kingsgate shopping centre, down king street - past the cherry tree, mcdonalds and KFC thern turn left - plenty of bars down there and if you're not being a wee wee tail you should be ok !
