ItsAGrumbleFromImre
If I was Milan Mandaric and if all the new signings are really DJs and not PA’s and I'd just witnessed being totally outplayed by Barnsley I would be wandering what the hell was going on?! I would then look in the mirror and ask myself why after getting 35,000 at home v Wycombe I did not decide to invest in a better class of player in the Summer to at least push for the play offs. Most worrying of late is I can't see how Wednesday are trying to play, is it a footballing style, hoofball, compact and on the break or what? But thank God for 3 points! Jürgen Weißbrot
I've not called for his head up to this point because I don't think it's productive to keep changing managers; but we've proved ourselves to be the worst team in the division in the last couple of games (or at least 2nd worst - not sure if Peterborough are any better). So, unfortunately, I think we need someone else in before the January transfer window. And I thought we'd finally cracked it with DJ too. Damn it! Guest chuckie4570
I thought all the signings were from DJ's worldwide contacts...? Buck stops with the manager.....! Edited December 16, 2012 by chuckie4570
gurujuan
But only four of that side were Jones's signings?

BRUCE LEE
I'd be taking my search for a replacement abroad cos the options over here are exceptionally bleak.
swfcGibbo
But only four of that side were Jones's signings? I think that's where the problem lies. Out of the side yesterday we had a goalkeeper, a centre half and a winger (who we actually had on loan last season) who have improved the team. The rest were the players we had in League one. One of which couldn't even get a game. Where we've massively failed is recruitement. Jones is basically admitting at the moment that only 4 of his 14+ signings have improved the team. Not good enough.

gurujuan
I also agree, although of those 14 signings, perhaps only half were envisaged as first team players, this season anyway.

Me too and that was after thinking GM's sack was ridiculous timing so I wasn't easily won over but like you thought we'd got a good un tbh he's blagging the job at present I genuinely think he has no idea what to do other than revert to what is left of last years team
gurujuan
Crazy talk this. What's left of last years team? Who's he sold who he should have kept?
swfcGibbo
Crazy talk this. What's left of last years team? Who's he sold who he should have kept? He spent the money in the wrong areas. I genuinely believe Jones saw Pecnik as the midfield man hence why in the first games he started him there. He obviously massively jumped the gun with that signing. He also signed a left back who I believe will be on a big salary who barely makes the bench and his terrible self discipline. Furthermore he brought in Taylor when really we should have signed someone of the Danny Batth mould. He would have improved considerably with a quality centre half next to him like Gardner. We also signed 'too many' strikers who he then felt obliged to play which ruined the fluidity of the team. But the biggest area for concern for me is midfield. Both on the Wing and centrally. If we get any injuries we are absolutely thread bare and that was our big chance to strengthen with quality. We apparently chased Norris all summer (who would have been that man) yet when the chase ended we just left that position. Bizarre. When then brought in a winger in Mayor who Jones admitted wasn't ready.I'm not saying we should have broke the bank but at least brought in someone who is ready to make the step up (Alan Judge mould). I find it incredible how many recruitment mistakes he actually made.
modboy
Only Lowe I would have kept personally for both his ability and personality Don't think it's a coincidence either our worst spell was when Prutton was away from the squad as you need BIG personalities in any organisation
gurujuan
Mate, mistakes were made with recruitment, that's for sure, but it's more about who we didn't sign, in my opinion, and how much of that was down to budget constraints?

Wolfmanjack
Bang on mate. Would love to know if these were the players jones truly wanted or was told a list of what he could have. A conspiracy theory round every corner. Both (who according to some on here, had players inflicted on him) and Dave Jones, would not tolerate the Chariman bringing players he wanted, to the club. I don't doubt being a genuine football person, Milan might suggest players to his manager, but players wouldn't be signed unless the manager wanted them at the club.
