It was appaling to watch yesterday, may have grinded out a result, but we couldn't do the basics right and really we haven't been able to do so all season. Barnsley at least looked as if they could keep the ball and create something, we just looked clueless. Our game plan is just give it to Antonio let him run or get a throwing and let Antonio lauch it into the box.

There are never any players in support or giving teammates an option, everyone is incredibly static and that is why we revert to long ball. Barnsley could pass and move, keep the ball and looked dangerous on the wings, we looked lacklustre and clueless.

Also, defensively we were poor IMO, rode our luck big style. Barnsley had several guilt edge chances they should have buried. They got in behind us on numerous occasions and if it wasn't for heroics of Prutton and Kirkland they would have punished us from two set pieces.

People keep saying that 'ooh you need to grind out a win to breed confidence', hang on, didn't we say that against Peterborough when we beat them 2-1? We were shocking in that game still won, but went onto lose 8 in a row, The team is just not good enough and you don't stay up playing like that. Milan need to spend big to bring some bloody quality in the team, you can't compete in this division on the cheap and it has shown so far this season.

How much have Crystal Palace and Millwall spent?

A team can only do what they can based on what is put in front of them.

In fact the more I think of last night the more I think it was an amzing result coming off the back of seven straight defeats.

Three points, clean sheet, away from home and live on score against local opposition.

We didn't do anymore than was possible.

Well said.

True. But two established Championship sides now who's squads have been together for a long time. Still think Millwall will finish bottom half though.

So you're now saying you can compete in this division on the cheap?

Neither have really competed on the cheap, they haven't spent much this season, but Millwall spent 500k on Andy Keogh, a proven goalscorer in this division which cost money. Palace's team isn't full of free transfers, take Murray and Zaha out their side, would they be where they are? Doubt it.

Point is, we tried to pick up good players cheap, which personally i admire, big wages and high transfer fees are risky and many teams have suffered as a result, but the players we brought in are not good enough and Milan is going to have to spend big to pull us out of this mess.

With regards to DJ's future pre-match, I wanted him out. Post-match, 1 positive (and lucky) result means this is a step in the right direction to getting fans onside with him again but it doesn't change my opinion. I don't want this to be a 'flash in the pan' like last time.

Why was the second half an utter joke?

A side completely bereft of confidence put in a hardworking, committed performance to grind out a win. No matter what the doom and gloomers say there was not an array of missed chances.

Barnsley created very little but when they did the team put their bodies in the way!!

For weeks people have moaned about a lack of fight and the disappearance of the 'Megson Team Spirit' but there were glimpses of it on Saturday so the fans find something new to criticise and moan about.

This team will claw it's way out of trouble with some ugly, grafting football. When the confidence is back the passing will flow and the style will revert to that more similar to last season.

We are a newly promoted side that gambled massively on young, raw talent to all learn the Championship way at the same time and settle very quickly in this league.

It's backfired somewhat so we'll have to do it the hard way and hope, over time, the likes of Corry, McCabe and Mayor can see us playing a more flowing, attacking brand of football.

what's the point in being happy with last night's win if we probably won't win again for 3674565 games?

We've a great chance of beating Charlton... But our chances are reduced by idiots like yourself who sit there waiting for their next chance to moan
