That was then, this is now Mr Jones...

There is hardly anything worthy of note in the 21 months that Burtenshaw was in charge and he must surely rank as Wednesday’ s worst ever manager......

..... In 1974-75 relegation was not to be denied. After a 1-0 win against Southampton at the end of December, they went four months and 17 games without a win, during which time they managed to score just two goals.

The club is now in a secure financial state with a forward thinking chairman, a team with spirit and determination that I have not seen since 1991, we have just been promoted in front of 38,000 fans, we have acquired 14 new players including an England international goalkeeper and a premiership 'star' on loan from QPR, had a future England captain on loan for 6 months, signed one of the most exciting talents for years on the wing and an exeprienced CB with a premiership pedigree.

You have seriously got to go some to spectacularly flip it up and be compared to Steve Burtenshaw in terms of results in this division....

Not good enough given the resources and the size of this club and the fanbase and 3 years of hard work is rapidly disappearing down the pan.

The man and his staff need to take a long hard look at themselves and not blame the current 'problem' on the past or anyone else and effectively dismiss all the hard work done by this and previous Chairmen, the previous manager, fans, individuals & groups to shake off the stigma of everything that went before. You identified the targets, signed the players, you and your staff coach and pick the team, you and your staff motivate the players and determine tactics and systems. You said that if folk think we are here to make up the numbers, then they are in for a shock'.

I'm flippingshocked, I'll give you that.

No mea culpa but plenty of incoherent bullsh1t....

Likewise, some of our fans also need to realise that, that was then and this is now!!!

There's too many of 'em living in the past.

On that note, I'm off to bed now to dream of what we used to be.

Who is listening though?

Platitudes, and pats on the head, are all you get as fans nowadays as we increasingly find ourselves living in a "shut up and sit down" World.

With any well run business, the customer's views would count for much more. The inability as a customer to walk away and find another supplier, is a bit of a problem though isn't it?

Where else would you keep buying a poo product?

Great post from Flat Owl.

Just the mention of the word "Burtenshaw" sends a shiver down the spine of some of us slightly older supporters.

For Jones to be likened to Burtenshaw's results shows what a disaster this shambles is.

I think the media game that Jones is playing is:

We play OK and lose so Jones praises the performance and states corner being turned, etc

We play badly and lose so Jones blames ref, player/s and talks of learning curve, etc

It does not fool most people but for some inconceivable reason it unfortunately seems to have fooled Milan.

Perhaps Milan has access to a lot more information than silly interviews on local radio?

Reading the OP puts very succinctly waht a mess the manager has made of it.

To be likened to Burtenshaw who was possibly the worst manager in the historty of SWFC!
