Beholder
It is not a new thing- being poor like this. Ever since we lost Brunt, Whelan and Bougherra (and Tudgay lost his form) we have been struggling to compete at this level. We managed to hold it off for a season when we brought in Watson and Gray but they were too old and it couldn't last. Looking realistically at last season, we were floundering badly before Jones came . We led a charmed life in the run in as results went our way- the rivalry spurred us on. Heroic figures such as Reda, Llera and Antonio managed to get us over the finish line. Without the brilliant Marshall to enhance our team we would've been nowhere near. In reality we were not a promotion team. We never really looked that convincing. I think most of us have been guilty of overestimating the quality of our squad. Jones brought in some bargain young lads for the future, but I think him and Milan now realise we have to be alot more ambitious if we are going to compete at this level. I think on reflection, Jones is not as bad a manager as the results are suggesting. It's just we massively overestimated this squad. It's all on january now. I am not bothered if we keep Jones- I can't see too many better replacements and he knows the situation best. I know it's an unpopular viewpoint but i think it would be best to keep him and let him finish the job.
gurujuan
It's popular with me at least Think it was more an underestimation of what was needed rather than an overestimation of our squad The championship has come on leaps and bounds since we were last there. When you get clubs like Bristol City and Peterborough paying upwards of a million pounds for a striker, you can see what we're up against.
Mike Hunt
I just cannot see its Jones that has brought some of these players in , he has to much experience in this division to not know what we need , i think he has made mistakes (bothroyd) but the signing of the likes of Pecknic and Maguire seem vrey strange

Also when you think we lost Baath , Ranger and Treacy out of last seasons finishing line up you have started 3 players short.

He has alot of tekkers for one so cheap. He thought he was getting a bargain. Turns out he is nowhere near ready. Dunno about Maguire- he got rave reviews last season in this league. He still may come good.
Beholder
It's natural to turn on the manager over the situation we find ourselves in.. I just think we could make a big mistake by replacing him and starting once again from scratch. We are not like Ipswich- they have a team full of stars who had lost their way. We have a team full of inexperience. There is not some MASSIVE well of form to tap into. We are almost at full performance as we are. The players are the limiting factor. Not the manager. CrosbyKitchens
Kirkland, Gardner, Taylor, Bothroyd, Buxton, Beevers, Jones, Maguire, llera, Antonio, JJ, Sidibe and Bywayer have all played at this level or higher before.

gurujuan
The players are the limiting factor and hopefully that will be addressed in January. Quite what can be done remains to be seen but if the worst comes to the worst and significant investment is not forthcoming, I hope we persist with DJ as manager. If we go down, at least we now have a nucleus of good young players which can only stand us in good stead for the future.
Dagmeister
I pray that the January budget will be given to someone other than Jones. We may have some decent youngsters but we don't know yet whether they will develope into strong assets.
