'Hoofball'

Just watching west ham, a 'hoofball' team.

Looked just like us last year. Yes it's direct but it's also a team with tremendous fight, team spirit, organised, fit players willing to put there head in where most don't put there feet.

They chuck the ball up in the air, they hussle and fight. It's sometimes ugly but my god the atmosphere was great - just like it was last year.

Say what you like about Megson and his style but last season was the best I've ever felt as a Wednesdayite and although ill not stop going but this season just hasn't got the same feeling.

I think (once again) that some people look back on the Megson era as some amazing footballing spectacle when in fact the opposite was true

It was dire.... truly truly dire

TBH - i think it was somewhere in the middle; was dire at times but could be really uplifting at others. The Huddersfield home game summed us up entirely in one game.

Was it though!?

The problem you've got (apart from being so far up jones arse) is that you just concentrate on megson last 5-10 games. Of memory a couple were cup games so who cares but the most important thing you've got to remember, in January megsons team weakened. Charlton, Huddersfield, united all strengthened yet we weakened. We lost Marshall, tavenier and love him or hate him JOC. Plus JJ was injured. Any team would struggle.

Megson finally got Antonio in and JJ back and we looked miles better against united.

The rests history. My post wasn't really about Megson anyway it was more to do with the style of football and enjoyment of last season.

This season it isn't even enjoyable to go to hillsborough. I'm aware results are a big factor but there's not even any fight. I could cope with a relegation scrap... If we scrapped, but we don't.

maybe so but it wer a little bit less dire than this era

Was it dire when we had Marshall? It turned dire when we didn't sign him and didn't replace him.

Any team would struggle with prutton and Bostock on the wings!

Any need to put cult of Megson after everything that is even slightly pro Megson?

There's no need for anything about Megson on here though

People always seem to forgot how bad things were and sometimes how bad players were and always want them back

The football under Megson was rumbleing hurrendous, not bad when you're winning but when you're losing there's nothing worse to watch in football

The last 15 games (excluding the game against United) under Megson were horrific, awful football, poo results, boring excuses and players that couldn't be arsed

The only reason we went up was because of Jones, no one can deny that.

Megson isn't coming back, it will never happen while MM is in charge now please shut the flip up about him

I think InsideOwl has took the 'cult of megson' post a little too personally

The point is that there's comparisons of current day and Megson era but I just feel that they're always made with rose tinted specs on about the quality of football we watched under Gary - that's all

No offence meant InsideOwl - your original post wasn't even about Megson

It just irks me that we're in trouble, the manager is struggling and there's so many Megson related posts kicking about as though he's gonna walk back into the club

Now it's 15 games is it!? Jesus.

Any team would struggle when it weakens... Look at united when the lost king ched.

My post wasn't even about Megson. It was more about the togetherness he made that I was making reference too.

I've not forgot it was,dire

I just don't get why Jones hasn't stuck to his footballing principles makes no sense...

I think that's the biggest thing of all

Dave Jones - reputation from never moving from a 4-4-2 with two wingers, fast attacking style has completely abandoned his own style of play

I don't think there's a prayer they'll work again ever so it is pointless but I thank that you've acknowledged my post wasn't about Megson.

I do however think people who didn't particularly like Megson now turns his reign into 'shocking, dire football'. Truth is there's good and bad football in every club.

But again my point was more how the enjoyment of watching Wednesday has gone.

Yes but if we had Marshall on left and Antonio on right which is what Megson wanted, then I think we would have played a bit more attractive football.

Really. Does that include the times when we had Marshall than Antonio playing, or are we being selective again.

The football wasnt always dire under megson tho was it??

Since megson left and jones came in its been made out that megsons football was more terrible then it really was.

Was the huddersfield home game a terrible game to watch?
