More positive stories about Dave Jones in the Star

Recommended Posts

CARDIFF star Peter Whittingham has told of the debt that he owes to Dave Jones and the respect that he has for the Owls manager.

Jones took the midfield player from Aston Villa to the Bluebirds, with whom he has become a key midfield player.

Whittingham, set to face his old boss tomorrow, said: “I owe a lot to Dave, He brought me here and had a lot of trust in me.

“It’s a hard one, he probably did a lot better than people expect, getting to the FA Cup Final and more. I have utmost respect for him as a manager and a guy. I hope he does well after Sunday.

“Sheffield Wednesday are in the bottom three. He needs points, and what better place to come to than Cardiff and break our home record.”

The odds seem stacked against the struggling Owls, with Jones’ old club leading the Championship and having won every home game,

But Whittingham said: “Every game in this league is hard, everybody knows what a horrible league it can be at times. You just have to go out with the same mentality as always.

“Sheffield Wednesday have pace and quality, and Jay Bothroyd wanting to do well against his old club, We know a lot about him, his weaknesses and strengths. We’ll talk in the meeting before and work out how to stop him.”

Cardiff manager Malky Mackay said of Jones, his predecessor: “To even be at a football club for six years is a long time. He oversaw the move from Ninian Park to the new stadium. He took them to the FA Cup Final and the play-offs. I think that’s a good achievement,

“When a manager is sacked, people want change, but I hope with time most people will look at the whole period someone was at a club and assess things. He had some very good times at this club and I would very much hope he is given a warm welcome by our fans now.”

Had a much better squad than ours. Its like saying Alex Ferguson would win the league with ipswich, there's always the element of poo players thats gonna make it harder

here's another positive storey, we win the next 15 on the trot, and knock a full strength man u. outa the cup at old trafford...

ooops! it should have started "once upon a time"...as it was just a storey...

this guy isn't good enough...

the playing squad isn't either, but he assembled more than half of that (the half that doesn't work), and the rest look disenchanted...

from the noises milan has been making, he figures he's put a lot of money into the club, i hope for all our sakes he hasn't finished...

i took the shyte purchases in the loan window to be his final meagre offerings to dj...

let's hope they weren't his final meagre offerings to the club...
