Ronnie Starling
Yeah I used to like watching Wayne when he pulled the strings. Alongside the likes of the Beckham's, Gerrard's and Lampad's of his day. Loved watching him for Liverpool, their best player by a mile. I am not slagging him off. The OP asked for people's memories of him. I gave mine. To make the above statement is ridiculous. I think Wayne would walk into Liverpools team at the moment. full fathom five
I went to school with him, he was a decent player at that level, He was the same age as Carl bradshaw but different schools, I think they where both on Wednesdays books as schoolboys, but Carl had by far the better career, no he didnt he became a pig. MAL
Depends on your definition of 'good'? My definition of good or not, was having seen Wayne Jacobs play for us.
Guest shytot
Knew him as a kid. Bumped into him a few times about 10 years ago and yes he'd found religion. Nice lad.
KivoOwl
We were doing RE at school one day when the teacher tried to get the lads' attention by proclaiming that a Premiership footballer was coming to the school to answer pupils' questions. We could miss a lesson of RE as a result, so obviously all the lads signed up. We were talking about who it could possibly be - Beckham, Giggs, Henry? In walked this small ginger bloke and I was the only one who knew who it was. I spread the word that he was playing for Bradford alongside the Waddler. It turns out that our Wayne had 'found the Lord', and was trying to spread the message onto these schoolkids from Kivo - not gonna happen. We spent half an hour asking what it was like to play with Waddle, what it was like to play for Wednesday, how much he earned etc... He got more and more inconsolable as he realised that these lads cared more about football than religion.

Bearwood Owl1
Thanks all, some very interesting reminiscences there! I'd wondered what people remembered of him in an Owls shirt - but given he only made 6 appearances that's not much to remeber him by. Seems he has had a far more interesting life and career elsewhere though!
