Home kit changing from blue to red....

Recommended Posts

This could be us in 2 years time.

I really, really hope Milan choses carefully when he decides to sell us on.

I'm loving it at the moment, but this selling us on thingy, it's like an itch that I can't scratch.

This is EXACTLY how I feel.

When your nicknames the bluebirds, and you're now playing in a red kit with the dragon being the focus point of the logo, it doesn't seem like such a minor change. Without even bringing United in to it, I'd absolutely hate doing away with blue and white stripes, it's one of the great things about Wednesday.

totally agree. but if we had no city rival playing in red, we were losing £1m a month and no one else was stumping up the money, and the one condition of the investment was a change of colour, would it really be worth calling it off?

Daft. it would be the same club regardless, id turn up to watch them whatever Hillsborough was named, whatever kit we played in, if we managed to find a sillier sponsor than chupa chups id still turn up.

Changing wednesday to red is a big issue because of the blunts. Cardiff has no one in red in the same city that would clash. you cant compare the two.

It's not the specific colour that I have a problem with. Could be puce for all I care and I would still feel the same. It is hinting at deeper issues within the modern game.

aye, no argument from me that moneys absolutely ripped the soul out of football, and i can sympathise with Cardiff fans reservations.

Facts are they need the money, and this is how theyll get it. doubt very much any of them will be doing black balloon protests etc if they make it to the premier, such is the fickleness of football..

Daft.

possibly. but its how i would feel and i dont think i could find any passion or enthusiasm should the situation arise. i stopped going when uncle dave was throwing his law suits around against fans on here and for a short period i lost alot of love for my club - i reckon a change of identity would be a similar feeling but on a much bigger scale.

i can see what happened in Austia with Redbull Salzburg, complete rebranding leading to fans forming a new FC United of Manchester type of side club.

for those who dont know...

"Red Bull Salzburg is an Austrian association football club, based in Wals-Siezenheim. Their home ground is the Red Bull Arena. The club was known as SV Austria Salzburg before being bought by the Red Bull company in 2005 who renamed the club and changed the club's colours from its traditional violet and white to red and white. The change resulted in some of the team's fans forming a new club, SV Austria Salzburg. The club has won the Austrian Bundesliga 7 times, and reached the final of the UEFA Cup in 1994. They also played in the 1994–95 edition of the UEFA Champions League as Casino Salzburg, being the only team not defeated by eventual champions Ajax Amsterdam."

Would be awful if this were to happen to us. For one thing I don't just dislike red, I absolutely loathe it!

Sad how football has degenerated to a state of just chasing after money. The Cardiff situation just goes to show how much the game has been taken away from the fans.

This puts the Club 9 Sports offer into perspective and highlights how desperate some people were at the time.

It also highlights the absolute absurdity of the proposed Geoff Sheard deal.

As a club and as fans we really have learned so much in the last five years about how football financing works.

We nearly didn't exist.

Can we really blame people for being a bit desperate?

We didn't know Milan was going to come in and 'save us'.

Id like people to think about this when Milan makes a decision they don't like.

We owe Milan patience at least.

Cardiff

We need to look at their situation, like Hawkeye says if it means changing your shirt colour to prevent the club

going out of business then its a no brainer, not too bothered about premier league but we are talking existance.

In this case I don't see too much of a problem, the money is substantial, as are the far east earning possibilities. They have no local rivals who play in red and it is traditionally the colour of their national side

It wouldn't bother you if Wednesday moved from Hillsborough to a new "out of town stadium with parking" and it doesn't bother you that Cardiff are being made to change the colour of their shirt and badge in order to sell more shirts in Asia?

You Sir, are an enemy of Football!

give it a couple of seasons before they move em to london. franchise coming up!

I can see them breaking Wales off with huge jet engines to move it just outside the thames estuary. The Isle of Wales or Welsh Isles in 5 years time with holiday homes for Londoners?

would it bother anyone if we moved to all blue kits, all white kits, or even all Yellow? is it the change of colour, or the colour its changing to?

Still think theres a vast difference between a team like us and Cardiffs situation.

None of those colours are big in Asia, only red is because it's considered lucky and that is what this change is all about! No thought for tradition or the fans, just pure commercialism. Heaven help the game.

I think theres a lot of jumping up and down because people are relating the colour change to us, and the clash with the pigs. Im trying to look at it as if we were a one team city, losing money hand over fist, would a change of shirt colour really matter so much?

I just cant see it.

For me it's the change of colour, red would be the worst choice obviously, but any move away from the blue and white stripes would take away a large part of what is Wednesday. I'd rather stay in the Championship / League 1 than sell out and change our colours and logo to some random animal.

Would rather us go bust, I would support the pheonix club if there was one setup anyway. Its more than just changing colour of the shirts or the badge, this is about an owner thinking he can come in and mess with the clubs traditions, he would have to be so out of touch with the fanbase to realise this was a bad idea. Infact in this instance he even knows that the fans are strongly against it and he is still going ahead, full weight c*nt.

agreed, but not at the risk of losing the club. The blue and white stripes are part of our heritage, but its pointless having a history if you have no present and no future.
