Guest Big Guns
IMO part of the problem with Owlstalk is if you are an outspoken critic of Wednesdayite you are treated like a leper, there's very much a closed shop on here, anti Wednesdayite opinions are not tolerated just shot down in flames, as I say all my opinion Never a truer word spoken there pal Oh and reading m royds is a top poster Just not as good as ste royds.. @owlstalk
I thought 12 pound for pie and peas to watch a match that was on the telly was a bit minty Seriously ? That's a bargain surely ? Owlstalk Shop
sonofbert2
Can I buy trevdi9 a drink, chin Reading and run off with my cushions before the match or what? What's the upshot of all this regurgitated shybo? For what it's worth I think (and I've said it before) that Wednesdayite needs to rebrand and relaunch not because they've done anything "wrong" as such but because the mud that was thrown at them back in the day has obviously stuck. Time for some fresh ideas (I know that's happening) and a fresh start IMO.
ReadingOwl
Which ones ? Fortunately it's a secret ballot. That's why I love democracy. But, I think, Big Guns would make a good Chairman. So Grandad ought to watch his back. *BG, don't use 33 as your campaign agent!* :st2: **Free cushions for everyone - that would be my election slogan**
Gerinako
You tend to get outspoken as a critic of Wednesdayite because they haven't really done anything wrong imo. Although I'm bone idle and haven't renewed my membership...

Weshallovercome
I couldn't be bothered to read this thread........can somebody confirm we're meeting up in the WEDNESDAYITE lounge on the 26th? latemodelchild
Very few people who actually take the time to discover what Wednesdayite actually do criticise their actions. Their charity work and smile tickets alone are worth the fiver a year membership. I know of a few folk who don't like the people who run it for one reason or another, but they don't criticise the good stuff they do. Blanket criticism is what riles pro Wednesdayite posters in my opinion. Especially when this criticism comes from the past troubles with the old board etc. Personally, I never really knew both sides until I searched for the answers myself. I went to a meeting and contributed. I told them I wasn't a member and wasn't keen on what was going on. I made my point and debated the pros and cons. At the end of the meeting I sought out the then chairman, (Daz as he is known on here) and challenged him to show me I was wrong. I nearly suffocated under an avalanche of proof that the organisation had been painted as the bad guys wrongly by certain people via the media. Sure, things happen that I don't agree with, same with any organisation. But as I am a member I can raise these concerns with the board, and should I feel strongly enough about it, I can run for office and effect change myself. I haven't, but wouldn't rule it out in future should the need arise. As it stands, I haven't seen anyone else saying they want to take over the mantle from Nigel and the rest of the board. All of you posting on here with negative, anti Wednesdayite views aren't offering an alternative. All I see is personal abuse and revelling in the fact that Nigel has misjudged a post on here. Not exactly a compelling argument. Anyone want to show me a different way of doing things? Anyone want to put themselves up against the current board with a clear view to how things should be done? Anyone who can do this, and show that their way will unite the fanbase under 1 banner that will generate a far bigger membership, then I'll vote for you. At the moment, the current board are doing their best, and that's translating into a good job.
Handball_!!
Bizarre. If you like Wednesdayite join them and use their facilities. If you don't like Wednesdayite, don't join them, don't use their facilities and don't read the threads with Wednesdayite stuff in them. Much better for the blood pressure that way. (Good post LMC) . Yes, but Trev has been banned from selling his cushions, from the back of Darra's car, in either the Niagra's or Wednesdayite's car park. But yes, WSO - we are still intending to meet pre-game in the Wednesdayite Lounge? Unless I hear otherwise. *hopes 33 doesn't have access to the code book*
Rodger Wylde
Two points. 1. From my dealings with Nigel, I do like him. 2. There will always be 'lobbers' on any committee due to the very fact that its a committee!! People WANT to be elected to something and feel like they are making a difference and have a feeling of 'belonging'. (Very strange)

Guest Deleted member
WOW - is this really still ongoing? Lets correct a few perceptions - firstly a few personal ones. Big Guns - I don't dislike him/you at all. I don't even know you so I certainly wouldnt jump to those kind of conclusions. Its an internet forum - and inetrent forums are FULL of internet persona's - people who aren't anything like how they come across on the forum. I don't honestly believe you are as offensive or attention seeking as you come across on here - it seems to me like a 'race to the bottom' and you love the neg's you receive. If I'm wrong about that - hey I'm wrong - I won't lose sleep over it. Cardiff Owl - same really as Big Guns - his internet persona of being (frankly) a know it all without ever going to the games (as they aren't feasible!) is something else I don't take particularly seriously but will always pick him up on when he posts. Its all a bit of fun. Ask Walkley Owl - Morissontobelieve - I don't take Owlstalk/Online or anything else particularly very seriously. I don't treat facebook or Twitter very seriously either and I use them for business purposes! Me and him have some right ding-dongs (usually about Wednesdayite) online but will always share a pint and a laugh and joke whenever we get together. I made a misjudged post - hey Ive made 17,000 posts over the years I can't get em all right (although 99.99998% are absolutely spot on ) I asked for the post to be pulled because it was potentially damaging for Wednesdayite because people took it the wrong way - and I wouldn't do ANYTHING to damage Wednesdayite (not knowingly anyway) The work wednesdayite do in the community in the name of Sheffield Wednesday, what it does for the fans and the club is far more important than a laugh and a joke on Owlstalk/Online and will always defend it (and i guess sometimes thats where I lose my sense of humour a bit - when I see it being attacked by people who have listened to the word of a two-bit dictator with absolutely no love for this club and believed everything they have heard. Thats incredibly sad. because (and actually I really hate this phrase too - We (really are) ALL Wednesday Arent We? Isn't that why we come on here? Because we all care about the clubs - in differing degrees admittedly. I don't think I'm any better or worse a Wednesdayite than anyone (yes even cardiff owl ). But if someone criticises Wednesdayite I will always try to address that perception as I believe its a misguided judgement brought about thru a lack of understanding about the organisation. If thats seen as shouting down someones opinion - I wont apologise. Some of the vitriol aimed at Wednesdayite astonishes me at times - for an organisation that does so much good and actually genuinely makes a difference to so many peoples lives. Thats not me being over dramatic. But for example - I know of a family who has a daughter who is terminally ill attending the game on a Smile ticket soon. If Wednesdayite didnt exist - that child probably wouldnt be able to attend. I know of 8 people from one school who attended the Huddersfield game on Smile tickets who had never been to Hillsborough before - who havent missed a game since. I know of a hell of a lot of people who were mistreated at Blackpool who are having their case taken further - both to SWFC and Blackpool (and Blackpool Council) by Wednesdayite - a collective voice will always have more effect than a single person who is easier to fob off. FINALLY - my biggest regret over this whole misconstrued post was that people are confused about whether they can meet up with Trevdi pre match. OF COURSE YOU CAN MEET TREVDI PRE MATCH - ANYONE CAN - I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET HIM MYSELF. I won't respond any further in this thread as Ive rambled enough - and it really has now been blown out of all proportion.

How the flip people can be against an organisation that has only EVER done good things for SWFC is beyond flipping belief.......it's pig headed ignorance personified.(and the pig part is apt) Supporters give up their time freely to make our club a better place yet get abuse......the should all flip off to Chesterfield with the other flipping nobhead. There, I feel better now. p.s.......Good post LMC. p.p.s. I've finally stopped smoking:)

I didn't mean you are the same as Big Guns - I meant my views are the same and that I don't dislike you, as i don't know you, but your internet persona of being a know it all who doesnt go but pontificates on stuff that youd really need to go to know anything about is something I will always take you to task on.
