You can't wipe the records away just by changing the name!!!!

I thought it was 49,900 and some, cos at the time had me wondering what those who'd bought tickets hadn't turned up for?.

Footnote to topic...

Sunderland's League One attendance against Bradford today was 46,039.

That's still over 3,000 short of the record set at Hillsborough for an English third tier fixture.

Bradford's a reigt followin'.

Talk sport were banging on about it earlier today, biggest league 3 attendance in 39 years. Followed by the obligatory North East fans are amazing blah blah, not really though 2 cities 2 teams and a huge catchment area. Seem to remember empty spaces at the stadium of light last year.

yeah, I think their crowd drops off when they're not doin well, just like anyone else's.

Used to work just down from the stadium of light. Amazing on a Saturday afternoon How many fans would walk past just after half time when they were losing lol

They're on course to beat it this season.

It's the only attendance I have committed to memory it was 40,309 the highest gate for a third Division game.  There was the Hull game which was highest in the Third Division North but they only came to see Toytown.

Playoff matches don't count as league matches.

May I refer you to the 2011 case of The World v Huddersfield Town, where this precedent was set.

They're still undefeated aren't they?
