agentwalker
My worry is look at the Tranmere game in the 1st half. Nearly every ball was rolled out by the keeper to the defenders, lines or Semedo dropped off to recieve the ball and we used the wingers. Or the defenders would hit the strikers chests to bring it down and shift it wide. Today it was to much of back to weaver and hoof trying to play off the flickons, and fight for the 2nd ball, can't remember a single time today when we played it from the back. Its ok playing long but you've got to hit the strikers chest height to bring the rest into play. Edited January 14, 2012 by agentwalker
SiJ
Less of the hoofing from today is a requirement. There is nothing wrong with being a direct team, the problem, as today demonstrated, is when you start whacking it up the pitch with little purpose or direction. Guest on the band wagon
thought for the first 30 mins we were playing well and were in control, they were looking ordinary, went flat after that. They still did n't look that good but put in a really solid performance, not surprised they have done so well away, looked sharp on the break. We just did n't seem to have enough about us to create the final finish. Too much direct play, which was n't working, not sure about the substitution of Marshall and as others have said why change a winning team, does GM trust Lowe Anyway need to move, disappointed but all is far from lost, loads of points to pick up and possibly the odd addition to the squad and departures from our rivals UTO
doubled123456
MM has to get the cheque book out before it's too late. However, Megson's tactics are a concern. Plus, he picked the wrong team today. Overall, he fooked-up.

Bluesteel
Todays performance was poor, really poor, Charlton didn't look that good either FWIW but they had a game plan, okay so they were negative and time wasting fkers for most of the game but they go home with three points so it's mission accomplished no matter what you say. I think Megson got it wrong today,.. changing a winning team, why? and when he changed the formation nothing happened, for me it made it worse, on top of the fact that most of the team just seemed lackluster, I'm not going to single anyone out but some were worse then others, but I'm slightly worried now, I know theres a long way to go too, I know we have a game in hand etc.. but seeing as we have recently willingly chucked leads away in recent games, todays game was the day we needed them points, we threw it away v Huddersfield, Walsall, scarped through Tranmere and didn't turn up today, are we really in a position to say we'll go up having looking at the last few league results and performances? dunno...or could it be the Ben Marshalls issue that has added to the players pressure? again fk knows.. but I do know one thing, something has not been quite right for a while, we either address this now or it's play - offs at best. Another thing that struck me today was the lack of an effective plan B, and why change a winning side, big mistake imo. Now we just need to kick now off until the end of the season and history will tell you that we should if anything is to go by for this season. This will be a good judge of character for us seeing what we are made of.... starting against Hartlepool next. Today was a major disappointment. I'm gutted about it but we have to move on. Btw how bad is Charltons support? *** me, top of the league as well. Agree with this. Are we good enough for automatic? Yes I think we are, but only if we are lucky. I think that we have been doing "just enough" in many games this season whilst other teams seem to be really putting the opposition to the sword. At this level, usually, we'd get away with it but the bar has been raised and we need to raise our game that extra notch. To be fair, Charlton are a good side and we nullified each other apart from that moment of quality...and thats the difference this season, that ruthlessness, one chance one goal etc. On another day we'd have equalised, but what is worse is that Hudders and the Blades won. I really dont see why we took Marshall and Jones off today, unless injured or unfit because these are the people who can unlock a game, not just booting it and hoping for the best. If Charlton are the best side in the division then we can take heart from today if we want, as it took a special goal. But its that frustration that we can do so much better. Guest Sunflower
This season is a fkin rollercoaster for 4 teams chasing Charlton. Plenty twists and turns and I'm far from convinced they'll be champions anyway, a long way to go. It's easy to be negative after a bad result but Wednesday will be challenging for top 2 all the way. So will Hudds. Whose nerve will last, don't think mine will anyway ....

I actually believe that whoever comes 6th (probably Stevenage or Carlisle) will win the playoffs, as the other 3 teams will be hanging there heads still after missing out on automatic. sonofbert2
I must be the only one that would love to play the blunts in a playoff final. We'd smash em to pieces. Me too. Smash the rumbleing bridesmaids. However, I'd prefer they were nowhere near but looks like they'll be there or thereabouts. We could psychologically kill them though next month.........even better scenario (79/80 style !!!!)
Guest bully87
tactics are a worry? are you stealing my urine? ul be saying sack him next cause we've not gone unbeaten at home all season. we were 3rd in the table only behind pgs cause they played one more game......this wasnt a worry today. practucally every team chasing a game puts long balls into the box in last 5 or 10 minutes jeez chill out long time left lots of twists and turns. march april teams will drop points for pressure lets just do what we got to do

Bluesteel
I really dont understand why United are doing as well as they are. I'm not the kind of Wednesday supporter who denies that United have a good team, if thats what I really think and for the first time in a good few years I genuinely think we have the edge over them as a team. Am I wrong on that? They seem to have had a good run of fixtures recently but you can only beat whats in front of you. I really dont rate them that highly other than one or two players but they are getting results.
ReadingOwl
They are flying. Wouldn't be surprised if they get a result against Charlton next week. We have to rely on ourselves, in any event.

If they keep their players this month they'll be a real threat to charlton. We need to re-group and megson needs a plan b.
theowlsman
My worry is we aren't quite good enough for automatic promotion and will have to make do with the play-offs.Makes a change from being just plain old poo poo, having a huge debt, a poo poo chairman, and a poo poo manager. Life isn't so bad really is it. PS There must be a better word than poo poo for poo poo in auto correct Neil surely ? Try poo
theowlsman
Blade fan in peace here.First of all, I wish you had beaten Charlton today, would have closed the gap for all of us and I'm all for a Utd/Weds top 2, dont care who finishes Champions. Im replying to answer Bluesteels comment from a Blades perspective. We have a squad flowing with confidence and ability that shines in this league. With the greatest of respect your strikers have come from teams lower in stature and from teams lower in the league than yourself. We have strikers that played at higher standards and its fair to say havent really delivered in a Blades shirt until now. Our midfield has players that have played in the Prem (Quinn, Williamson, McDonald) who with confidence and now a winning mentallity are really starting to play well in this league. Our defence has been solid and have kept more clean sheets of late than not. I dare say we are a better team than you think and some of the football we have played has been some of the best us Blades have seen for years. We want the ball, love the ball and are happy to play with the ball at our feet. After years of effective but direct football, its a pleasent change. Im not here to gloat, Im here is response to a comment posed about my team. I come here to read what others fans think of my team and this league because after the loss of 606, it isnt so easy to gauge the thoughts of other fans. There is a long long way to go and I am certainly not counting chickens before they have hatched. We have been luckier than you regarding injuries but after the season we had last Im glad we have had a bit of luck and long may it continue. You can afford to lose to Charlton as we can next week because its all about picking up points against the teams you should be beating if you wish to get out of this league. Walsall away, Brentford at home etc. We are doing that at the moment but we all know if we slip up at any time, you're there to take advantage. Reasonable Blades are welcome anytime mate.
