Sorry Big Guns, but JOC is popular with those who matter.

15 games, 29 points.

Do these stats mean owt?

NO !!!!!! That's my point, they mean absolutely bugger all.

Just because JOC starts the match (how many has he actually finished ?) and we win IS NOT an excuse to play him.

I wonder what the stats are for Palmer playing / starting a match and winning ?? Or even Coke & Morrison ...

Every day the same thread. The same debate.

Why?

Because Megson is asking us to disregard what we see with our own eyes.

Maybe he just wants a mr motivator on the pitch to rouse the other players, but it just seems like he won't drop him as a matter of principal because he won't back down to fan pressure..

It's like he is proving a point.

It's an interesting subject though or you wouldn't keep reading and posting would you?

He's dropped JOC before though - indeed, we didn't start the season with him in the starting line up, so why would he consider it so important that he doesn't drop him now?

Doesn't want to be proved wrong by fans ?

Well yeah.

It wee wees me and alot of other people off that this player just gets picked and picked.

He is a pub league player who deceives one manager after another with his 'amazing attitude'.

Joc certainly offers something to the squad and it beggars belief that certain morons boo him, especially when we are in the top 3 (doesn't that tell you something?).

Also the last few managers seem to like him and they are the people at the club in the know.

I do however agree with Mr. Raygun - he aint a left winger.

If we could beg steel or borrow another Marshall for the left side we would be awesome!

2-0 win tomorrow :reda:

Every team needs some experience. Every team needs passionate individuals. Every team needs skilled, pacy, strong midfielders. For everything else theirs JOC.

Every team needs a clapper. Every teams needs a ginger. We have JOC.

But right now our 'best side' includes a CB at left back, and a CM on the left wing.

It's not a recipe for long term success, and recent performances have suggested that it is an area we could greatly improve upon.

We've made excellent progress to get to where we are, but we should still be looking to make further progress: we need a left winger.

JOC's job is to help kill any early threat from the opposition and provide a basis for a late assault on our opponents.

Megson tries to ensure we don't concede the first goal. Then we have a platform from which we can attack the game to win it.

Why hasn't anyone took notice of this?

Generally speaking, it works.

However, when it doesn't, normally when teams are really up for a game against us, and we receive a constant bombardment, and cracks eventually show, the blame cannot be laid squarely at the feet of one man. We need to defend better as a team.

The thread should have ended here.

Why are we questioning a manager who has completely rebuilt our squad, re-vitalised the home form and got us up to third with the transfer window to come.

I'm sorry, but that's bullshit.

Where is this fan pressure to drop JOC? a couple of threads on Owlstalk is not "fan pressure"

Megson clearly plays him for a reason, but I don't believe its because he wants to prove a point to the fans.

Remember who he replaced?

Glen Whelan.

He also kept young sean mac out of the team when the same player had been outstanding the season before. Guess what? we got relegated.

Irvine stuck with him and his 'no-nonsense work ethic' and it cost him his job. we finished mid table league 1.

Now Megson is doing the same and it will cost us promotion- even though we have some of the best players in the league in marshall/ madine and semedo
