RolandWaddle
Today, I would be willing to give lifetime bans to anyone who has set foot on the field of play
mattitheowl
Serves him right. There are signs all around saying don't go on the pitch. What was he trying to achieve? Bloke did it last night and there is no need. What if he wasn't mucking about and cracked a player? You have to draw the line at 0 tollerence! Just not bothered... solo
Completely justified imo. there are rules and everyone knows the consequences of breaking rules. it's a culture spread these days that leniancy is a given but if its costing the club money to hold this investigation, time and effort that could be spent somewhere else then its perfectly justifiable. Also the game was still in play. the situation around the time of the incident and the fact the match was still being played takes into consideration about the absolute foolishness of said fan who may end up with a lifetime ban. you reap what you sow, the other 5000 and odd fans didnt do it so why should he have done it in the first place , everyone knows not to do it and the ideal of fear stops some people who may feel inclined to do this particular act not to do it, to show leniancy in this circumstance could cause further incidents down the line and then the reputation of this football club and fans comes into question and no-one wants that sometimes a hard stance needs to be taken where justified . Brownlad
Does seem extremely harsh. Unlikely he'll actually BE banned for life though isn't it. Saying that, it's pretty easily avoidable.

punkskaphil
These kinds of things just make our fans look stupid, and it doesn't help the club's reputation either. On Saturday a refereeing decision caused a lot of anger and a few guys down at the front of the stand were voicing their opinions when one of them decided, for no apparent reason, to smack one of the Bournemouth stewards around the head (as if it was the steward who'd made the call on the pitch). He was lucky to not get arrested/ejected, and it was probably only because it wasn't a proper punch that they he was only given a talking-to. Last season at Brentford the guy standing next to me decided to keep spitting in the general direction of the Brentford fans every time they made any noise, but all he was really doing was spitting at one of the photographers by the goal-line. Showing passion is one thing, but this kind of behaviour is just pointless. I'm all in favour of banning the guy who ran on the pitch - if people don't get severe punishments for it, then it would start becoming more and more commonplace.
