Reading some of them comments...some of their fans still don't want him even after proving himself in this League. (there is ones willing to give him a chance)

One comment here....

"Wait until he gets injured or dropped for a couple of games, he'll soon pile it back on (and more besides). Mellor's attitude as a professional footballer is disgraceful, and its only the fact that he was given such a ridiculous contract that prevents us from shipping him out."

This situation is just crazy what do you believe....

It seems Preston are holding up the deal...

It seems Preston would be willing to sell but Mellor want's what he is earning at Preston...

Well here's the article...

Sources in Sheffield seem to suggest that it is Preston that are holding up any deal for Neil Mellor to join Sheffield Wednesday on a permanent basis.

Mellor had talks with Wednesday over a permanent move after he scored 20 goals for the Yorkshire club on a season long loan last season. A fee for the transfer was agreed but Mellor failed to agree personal terms.

The striker is rumoured to be on £10,000 a week at Deepdale with a year remaining on his contract. Half of that wage was payed by Preston during his loan spell last season.

Preston would be willing to sell Mellor to remove him from their wage bill but Mellor appears not to want to move for less than what he is earning at present. Wednesday believe a deal could be done and want Preston to release Mellor from his contract a year early by paying a significant sum to Mellor for the wages he would lose.

It appears that unlike with Paul Hayes where an agreement was reached to pay up a sum of his wages to release him from the club, Phil Brown believes if Wednesday cannot agree personal terms then he is not willing to release a player who could prove very valuable to Preston in League One even if he was allowed to move away for free next summer.

Bit of selective hearing going on here.

When Preston fans were telling us how poo poo Irvine was most listened.

Now they are telling us that Mellor has an attitude problem some choose not to listen.

Interesting. That's all.

Mainly because we've already had him for a season so we already know what he's like.

It may drag on if Preston want him off the wage bill. Mellor wants his 10k-a-week. Who wouldn't ? And he will get it by staying at Preston for another season. Wednesday probably know that Preston want him off the wage bill and PNE are playing hard ball by not wanting to pay up his contract or subsidise his wage, which for all intents and purposes amount to the same thing as far as the player is concerned. Mellor and his agent won't give a monkey's if wednesday pay 5k a week and PNE 5k next season. Likewise they won't care if PNE give him 250k golden handshake and he gets 5k-a-week wages at Wednesday. Same difference to Mellor.

Let's hope he wants to come and we are playing a tactical game with PNE. If we are, the only danger is a rival signing him.

In reference to the original thread, I reckon he was overweight last season, and still did well. Imagine he'll be a lot more mobilolle now. Good enough for League 1 Wednesday, as he has already PROVEN.
