BRUCE LEE
I'm not sure what all the fuss is about JOC. GM likes vocal players, players who put 100% and do what's asked of them. Until we find out how he's going to be used in the grand scheme of things ......... we should trust GM in his decisions. Let's wait and see how everything unfolds. Megson asks him to be 5 yards off the pace ?
Hirstys left peg
Also I'm puzzled as to why he made miller club captain if he knew he would be leaving !!! JOC is a decent THIRD division squad player n that's what I think some people forget WERE in the THIRD division UTO WTID
Blueblood
I think ppl are slightly over reacting to this news, I'm sure as already said JOC will be a squad player, if we were looking to keep a squad player as back up for wot we could potentially sign, then miller wouldn't be the one, for a start he'd want too much money, I'm sure Megson will have an idea wot contracts would need to be offered to keep certain players. I know JJ loves the club so could sway his decision unless the contract takes the p!ss I'm not sure about Buxton he got a lot of stick last season but a lot of praise this season, so it depends wot other offers he gets

Guest James-The-Owl
Letting Tommy Miller go and keeping James O'Connor is like saying goodbye to your 1970s Aston Martin which is getting on a bit but still does a bloody good job, but retaining a clamped out Ford Escort with a 1 litre engine and half a wing mirror. Positively underwhelmed.
Dan™
Not sure why people think Coke would add energy to the midfield, seeing as he's been dropped for being too lazy... I'm sure Megson will work on his attitude over the summer though, there's definitely some ability in the kid, he just needs to get a bit more determination and consistency in his game. Orlando_Trustful
JOC gets a new deal. Batman and Robin may again play together next season. Totally flipping speechless.

gurujuan
I am not surprised by these developments, Hinds was always gonna be surplus to requirements given how many centre backs we have. Miller is a bit of an enigma, he's difficult to incorporate into a standard midfield four especially now his legs have gone. Buxton is probably a younger better version of Hinds, his versatility will be useful. JJ is priceless, and we may yet lose him. Because it's rare that a club like us could find someone with his pace JOC getting a new contract is no surprise as he is a Megson gave who works his socks off I'm not unhappy at the decision to keep him, useful back up alongside Palmer and Coke For me, I'll wait and see how the manager plans to rebuild the midfield I'm intrigued to see where he is gonna find a better ball winner than Osbourne If the lowness have gone for good, so be it, the only one I'll miss is Mellor However if we've lined up a 20 goal striker who's better I'll be happy
Guest Sheff Owl
flip ME!!! So in part of time that JOC has been here we have been relegated and had a flipping SHOCKER in League One...HE IS NOT THE ANSWER!! Bloody hell he hardley wins the flipping ball...oohh i'm chasing the opposition player, oohh i'm running behind the opposition player yet i don't win the ball. He is suppose to be a ball winner and hardly wins flip all! Not just him tho what the flip is going on with Potter? M Morrison, Reynolds, C Morrison, Heffernan, Sedgwick, Teale? theowlsman
Absolutely gobsmacked by this. As if 3 flippingyears of watching him chase shadows and clap vigorously isn't enough for us?! Madness. Complete and utter madness. I've been 100% behind Megson up until this point. I think this is a very very very big mistake. A bit of an overreaction I think! Maple Staple
Megson asks him to be 5 yards off the pace ? Most people on here say that he's had good performances in the last few games. What happens if GM can get more consistency out of him. How would JOC look / perform with better players around him?

jonnyowl
Some right drama queens posting in this thread. Anyone who thinks JOC has been offered a new contract because Megson wants him in his starting 11 is insane. But what's the point in keeping him as a backup, surley there is someone better out there. If we had 4 or 5 CM's of all similar quality then the competition for places would be greater. Megson said this at the Q&A he did. You don't want 2 quality ones and 2 average players. Would be much better to have 4 very good ones!
EcclesallOwl
Don't think he'll be much more than a squad player next season. If he is more than a squad player then Megson will make sure he is putting in good performances. Edited May 10, 2011 by EcclesallOwl
shez owl
Calm down! JOC will be a squad player on a one year deal at best, Megson has said that his attitude especially in the dressing room is first class and its these characters you need when gelling a new team. His offer is more strategic than it is for football reasons i am sure. Not too surprised about Miller, the club will have already sounded out his agent and know where the land lies, why push the boat out when you can use the money saved to attract a younger arguably better player from one of your competitors. JJ i am surprised with tbh, I bet he won't accept what he has been offered. And there is nothing to say JOC and Buxton will accept what they have been offered, its all a game. Maple Staple
The Miller situation could be simply a question of $$$$$? Who knows but it's like what's been said previously, it's the ONE'S STILL UNDER CONTRACT we have to worry about.
