madowl47
Weaver - 7 Another assured performance. When called on with a couple of high testers he was once again up for the challenge. Spurr - 7 I was one of Tommys fiercest critics. Let me say one game out and Tommy has improved 100%. I have made comments saying Spurr was not a footballer. I am beginning to think I may be wrong. Otsemabor - 7 Played well. Didnt have a lot to do however got forward now and again. Not quite enough for my liking. Purse - 7 After the first 30 minutes of aimlessly punting it forward, remained solid. Headed everything that came his way. A good captains performance. Beevers - 8 Great game for me. Some incredible blocks when they looked certain to score. Looked more assured and passed it well. Coke - 7 Brave Performance. Boundless energy and a real warrior for us. Great signing - created our best chances. Got flattened after a superb run, looked concussed but got up and continued to run himself into the ground. O'Connor - 5 Can't knock his effort. Wound Hughes up which was comical. But too slow and too small. Miller - 9 Might be a little high but here is my reason for the 9. I just wanted Miller to get the ball. Absolute genius at times with the ball and our best player at the club. Got to play wide right - no good on the left. When switched looked a totally better player. Some of the quick low passes he made into our forwards were fabulous. Got a similar style to Di Canio. Fantastic Tudgay - 8 Great goal - Played well. Tried hard put himself about. Covered every blade of grass. Heffernan - 6 Bit difficult coming in for first game for a while but did ok. A little weak but made some excellent runs. Needs matches for sharpness. Gauranteed to score a few given games. Morrison - 4 Dont like him. Dont rate him. Got to be dropped. Better as a sub coming on for last 15 mins. Subs Mellor - 6 Ran about - didn't cause problems, gave a needless free kick away in a dangerous area by trying too hard. Potter - 7 Well done Darren - looks like dropping him worked. Looked much better Heading Tackling finished off with a well taken goal at the end. Should have a good nights sleep tonight. Irvine - 8 Got his decisions right after 30 minutes - excellent change swapping Tudgay and Miller over. Really looked a better side after this. Thought he brought the wrong man off in Heffernan. Tudgay was playing so well on the left. Morrison deserved to be subbed. Support - 10 Incredible atmosphere, especially at the end. Best away game for a while. rica
roger listing them all. We were very lucky today as they were all over us in the first half. Morrison and Heffernan did nothing but then as we didn't play with any wingers there was a distinct lact of balls into the box. Tudgay and Miller were the pick. Miller is simply our best player and Tudgay the hardest working (who scored a great goal). Lee Hughes is a wankkker

I accept first thirty minutes but the change over of Miller and Tudgay changed the game. Junglejay
I'd agree with those ratings although I would up JOC to perhaps a 6. I'm no JOC fan and he did wee wee me off with some of his trademark passing and ball control today. However, I actually noticed him winning a few headers in the second half and put in a very good block in the six yard box.

Won plenty of headers, started to control the midfield by doing the simple things correctly. This was all that was needed from him, it was his role. The rest of the midfield did what they needed to do which complemented JOC. Coke was all action 2nd half. Played a great ball in for Mellor then got clattered. It looked like he was out for the count and a quite serious blow. Credit to him he got back up and put 100% in and did not stop running. tudgay in his best position for me. Must be difficult for a full back at this level to come across a Tudgay type player. He gained confidence after a great goal, first touch was good and started to pass the ball well. At the back I thought they all were outstanding today. Beever & Purse didn't miss much. Tommy Spurr had loads of the ball today and looked like a new player after being dropped the other week. It could well have been what he needed.

They had about 7 or 8 chances when they should have scored in the first half. We had none... We improved a lot in the second half but thought we struggled to a win rather than being dominant (for the last 20 mins they had 3 forwards and a centre half up front. For the last 10 mins they then had lost a midfielder after the sending off - so there was lots of gaps making our second goal inevitable).
gweimo
Weaver - 7.5- looked very solid, didnt have a lot to do but the few saves he did were perfect, I must admit I was gutted when Grant left and thought no-one would be as solid or reliable but he's proved me wrong. Spurr - 7.5 - Good tackles, lively, did hoof it up field quite a few times but he's hardly going to be perfect overnight but what a difference already! Perhaps told he was poo poo by the fan helped..... lets hope to never have to tell him again! Otsemobor - 7 - Impressed, solid. Purse - 7.5 - Had Lee hughes in his pocket, really brought the team together. Very solid. Beevers - 7.5- much improved, solid. Coke - 7.5 - Fantastic, energetic, purposeful running, tackling well, provided a good outlet towards the end. O'Connor - 7 - I really like JOC, I think he's very effective for his size, winning far to many headers, works so hard. Did the dirty work at the back allowing Miller and Coke to express themselves. Miller - 8 - Everything went through him, driving force of the team. Tudgay - 8 What a goal, only the one at the Derby can out class it. He was also really getting stuck in, seemed very focused and made some great tackles. Heffernan - 6.5- encouraged us to play it on the ground even if he wasn't fantastic, a bit more work and I can see a goal. Morrison - 6.5- Held the ball up well at times, falls over quite a lot. He needs to earn the right to be arrogant. Subs Mellor - 6 Ran about trying but doesnt actually manage to do much.... Potter - 7 - Got a player sent off (yay), and the goal was great. Much improved, he actually passed forward and seemed to not just be strutting around. I think not making him an automatic to start may have given him a kick up the a** to start trying. Wouldnt want him to start next week. Support - 10 What a FANTASTIC crowd! Best game i've been to since.....I cant remember.

I was fuming with the posession and the chances they were having. But as I said at half time only up to 25-30 mins. The last 15 - 20 mins of the first half I thought we improved 100%. My report at half time from Meadow Lane on the Sheff Wed v Notts County thread is copied below "Since miller and tudgay have switched wings we have looked better. For all of you at home this could actually go either way as pretty evenly matched now. Get miller on the ball as he is the only one trying to play football. Heff and Morrison as I said earlier no good together. It needs mellor on up front with heff. Lucky to not concede in first twenty five minutes. To be fair to Irvine the switch of miller and tudgay good move alot better. Got to play better this half " I agree also that we were on the back foot for large periods of the second half however it is a massive improvement to what we have endured over the past few weeks. Notts County are a good side and were at home.
Lincowl
After a shaky start we played some much better football, you could tell Irvine had really rammed home to keep the ball down more. Tommy Miller was instrumental in the neat play as was having Heffernan instead of a target man. No player was bad for us today IMO and Miller, Coke and Tudgay were especially good. nevthelodgemoorowl
Not done this before but I'll have a go even though it is so subjective, so don't slate me...... Weaver - 7 Assured performance. Feel he could do a little more in the air in terms of catching. Spurr - 8 his last one and a half appearances have been top drawer, still lacking a bit of confidence as exemplified during first ten mins yesterday. Otsemabor - 7 Probably his best game to date played well, got forward and positional sense was much improved. Purse - 8 After the first 10 minutes of getting back line settled everything that came his way in the air was won, Hughes not a giant though. Beevers - 7 Got some great blocks in as Notts C pressed. Still needs a few more pounds on for me. Coke - 9 Lion hearted performance a great example to all. Tackled well, passed well and ran his blood to water. O'Connor - 6 A good game but feel someone has to be compensating for his Physical shortcomings, height, strength and speed. Miller - 8 Compare him with Brian Robson slowing down spending more time on his arse in an effort to get there in time. Still had an excellent game just wish we had landed him on our first bid. Tudgay - 8 Goal similar to the one that sunk the blunts put himself about and looked a danger when driving from deep. Heffernan - 7 fitted in well as team got going toward end of half, this might have been the game for him to come on rather than start. Morrison - 5 Moan, moan, moan. Expects everything to go his way. Needs to get his head down get through some work then things will start happening for him. Subs Mellor - 8 Caused no end of problems down left exposing Notts rear guard time and again. Potter - 8 He got his sweat towell out at last and looked better for it. Silky smooth passer he maybe but must remember he is part of a team with responsibilities. Irvine - 10 After the crap served up to him by players, fans and boardroom alike stood tall and reminded everyone that the Notts County game is gone, forgotten. Time to move on ! Support - 10 Best away game for a while, we,re always good when we're winning !
