HOOTIE AND THE SHIT TU
My father and my uncle started taking me from an early age. I was around 14 when I first went on my own. From the age of 16 to 30, I played amateur league on Saturdays, so apart from midweek games, Wednesday went on the back burner. But once I stopped playing I returned to the love of my life. We have had our ups and downs, but she has always been there for me, and I for her, and long may it continue. Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife. daveyboy66
I was the first owl in a family of blades...my best mate at scholl was an owl ( aged five ) so when I got asked the question in the school playground it was a no brainer...shortly afterwards my dad took me to see us beat Spurs when we finished runners up to them...end of story....BTW NO blades in the family since
Gob_Bluth
My dad has had a season ticket for the majority of his life, he bought me shares in the club the week I was born and I started going full time with him & his mates when I was about 3 or 4, so I didn't really have a choice. Tantamount to child abuse really, looking at it objectively I think I'd have rather been nonced up than had to endure 25+ years of watching us. Ronnie Starling
My Dad had a season ticket and both of my Grandads too. My son came home from school one day and said that as well as liking Wednesday he liked United. He then realised this wound me up (he was five at the time) and told me he preferred United. I then pointed out to him that Father Christmas doesn't bring presents to United fans only Wednesday fans and he soon fell in line. If I am going to have a life time of misery watching football then so shall he. It will also stand him good stead for lifes disappointments. Guest snid
Me dad took me in 1970 to watch Wednesday v sunderland in the old first division, The season we got relegated against Man city. I just fell in love with Wednesday and the Kop end especially when it was all standing.Would still die for Wednesday at 46 years old.Still get the same buzz as those memorable times in the late 70s and early 80s but don:t get as upset when we lose . WTID!
Guest HeddaGambler
Paul Warhurst, Carlton Palmer and Des Walker - and Trevor Francis ofcourse. The match that really got me into the team was at Stamford Bridge back when Chelsea were utter crap. Warhurst hit an early opener and I think we went on to win 2-0.Here in Norway it was only Man Utd and Liverpool that mattered, but watching Wednesday was just too good to ignore those days. TopperHeadon
Never in doubt for me having lived at Wadsley Bridge as a kid (moved away when 7) and in the blood from the moment I walked down the tunnel on to the Lep terrace with me Dad. What's more difficult to explain is our young un - 9 years old, speaks with a Warwickshire accent and watched as many Coventry and Villa games as Wednesday games in his first couple of years as a fan, yet hasn't for one moment thought about supporting either of them, let alone Man Ure, Liverpool etc. Wears his full Wednesday kit with pride every week to footy training, regardless of the fact that there's always one arsehole (parent usually) waiting to take the wee wee and I have genuinly tried to get him to think about maybe even having a "second team...just in case"............why should I expect the kid to go through 40 odd years of pergatory like me when he has no tie to the City and lives 2 hours away? Why does he support Wednesday and why did he cry all the way back down the motorway after the Palace game, subjecting me to a week of serious grief from the other half?..........because "I get butterflies in my stomach waiting for the score to come thru on Sky Sports, so God must have made me a Wednesdayite" (said that when he was 7, has a slightly different take on it now, but too late.....) Guest GlennWhelan
My dad's a huge wednesdayite but, his first, my older brother rebelled and supported Arsenal as a kid just cos he liked their kit ( I know, what a be11end) My dad however learned from his mistakes and was determined to make his next kid a wednesdayite when low and behold i came along I was only a few weeks old and my mum had warned my dad i wasn't allowed to go to the football matches because the noise would be too much One saturday he said he was just popping out to do a little shopping and wouldn't be long , but decided to take a detour to Hillsborough :naughty naughty: My mother wasn't happy when he rolled in at half 5 and it didn't take a genius to work it out - apparantly he even walked in with the scarf on and had me in a wednesday hat But it obviously worked and here I am today
Guest wilkotheowl
1. Dad introduced me to Wednesdayism at an early age 2. Been supporting them for so long I am now patient waiting for the good times 3.I am a share holder I want my money back? What is that about - I do not want my money back. In fact I would be far more likely to invest more in Wednesday 4. I dislike SUFC 5. Every time you work with a Unitedite it christalises how much you hate United. 6. Not enough people recognise how big a club we could be if we were the only one club in Sheffield 7. We are all Wednesday arent we? 8. So much of my life would have been wasted. 9. What else could I fixated about? 10. Who else ould promoted Sheffield in 2018 World Cup. Please tell me why you support Wednesday Because I am a masochist & love having my weekends ruined.............................................................................................................. Guest Briscoe Inferno
Born into it. Generations since 1867..... Think on Grierson, Hulley, Cooke and the rest at how you have shown such disregard for those that have gone before you.
