Gerinako
BUSINESS NEVER BETTER AT TWL Shares soar as online gambling venture signs up a third UK football club The decision by the UK’s The Weather Lottery to launch online gambling services through the brand FCBetz.com (see previous InfoPowa report) was clearly a good bet; shares in the company have soared steeply – by some 173 percent - over the past week. AIM-listed TWL, which was originally a charity fundraising specialist, has been attracting attention since its recent announcement that it would be taking clients online in a gambling venture, initially signing up Coventry City FC in a multi-year cooperative agreement that includes a full online gaming package and an additional lotto element branded FC Lotto. Within days, this was followed by a further announcement that a similar deal had been signed with Derby County Football Club, and this has now been followed by a third agreement with Sheffield Wednesday FC. It appears that more news from TWL can be anticipated; the company has revealed that it is continuing negotiations with several other major football clubs, and it expects to make further announcements of similar contracts with other clubs shortly. "Derby County meets all the criteria we are looking for in our commercial partners. It has a strong fan base, an illustrious history and its ambitious owners have realistic premiereship prospects”, TWL chairman Lord Razzall commented this week. The contracts will begin at the start of the new season, which kicks off next month, with The Weather Lottery providing in-play stadia and online gambling to the clubs’ fan bases. There has so far been no public disclosure on what software the venture plans to use.

Gerinako
On second thoughts - might be best if I didn't mention all the funny names... *We're not involved with TWL - just having a quick look at there site doubt we'd be involved anytime soon (not our product range) Edited July 26, 2010 by Gerinako
Guest Buxtonian
What's this all about? Surely, they have signed up to provide 'gaming facilities' to SWFC? To me this simply means that they are the ones who will operate the 'betting premises' in the same way that beres provide the pies. It doesn't appear to be about INVESTMENT into the club, and surely the FL Rules must forbid them taking any control over the club since they have agreements with Coventry & Derby Co. Seems to me to be a storm in a tea cup. Does it matter who runs the betting kiosks - FCBetz, Ladbrookes, or even the Tote? They are simply supplying a service to the club in the same way that the Caterers or the Stewarding services do. What difference will it make to:- a) the state of the Club's finances b) the make-up of the Board of Directors c) the way wednesday are being run ( or more -Mis-run). Gerinako
"full online gaming package and an additional lotto element branded FC Lotto." "The Weather Lottery providing in-play stadia and online gambling to the clubs' fan bases" I imagine the fans will sign up stating they're fans of XYZ Then the online gaming package & Lotto element - depending on how much we gamble we get a percentage of the winnings The Weather Lottery I haven't got a clue .... http://weatherfunds.co.uk/index.php What you see on the current site will not be what they use at launch I imagine due to "no public disclosure on what software the venture plans to use. " If i was a betting man though I reckon Playtech may get involved...(Ala William Hill) Edited July 26, 2010 by Gerinako

It's nothing about Investment - no idea where you get it from. It's just a gambling company making an agreement with the Owls Of which we'll get some cash (Although not much probably)

sheffwed1
The question is where will we be able to collect our winnings! Do we have to wait till next match which would be poor one off game supporters and away fans! I know it's presumptive of winning but for me as well as other fans when we win on a bet on Saturday it normally pays for beers etc later in the week when you collect at the LBO! Not happy! :-(

Or, you can collect the next match, Or your slip will have a code on which you can use to redeem your winnings at FCBetz.com.
