Irvine HAS to change the team.

Recommended Posts

This bunch has been pretty similar for most of the season.

We keep getting told he has to work with these players but there are others in the wings who have not had a chance, or who have been out injured.

This team haven't got the balls to turn it around. It needs a freshen up.

The whole midfield should be replaced.

Miller, macca, Boden and Palmer.

That would be a start.

Then bring in JJ up front in place of either Varney or Tuggy. Don't care which.

Then get Purse back hopefully.

Action has tpo be taken now while there is still time.

it would be like shuuffling chairs on titanic, flippingpointless

I don't agree. That midfield has been unaltered for far too long despite being utter dogshit.

It is unfair on the ones in the wings if they are not used now. Why have them in the squad if they wont be used?

He has said today that he can't really change it and it would be unfair to chuck youth in, so i think we maybe stuck with what went out today.

Yes we have player's on the bench but surely if he thought they was good enough they would have got there chance?

Laws was criticised (even by his own players if rumours are to be believed) that he kept sticking with the same under performers.

If he can put new personell in ie Sean Mcallister being a key candidate then he must do otherwise what message does it give.

It wouldnt be the first time SMc would come in and show a few of the others up.

Whatever happens, he MUST drop Potter and either drop Tudgay or play him on the right side of midfield.

Bring in Macca and 1 other.

Hey, the truth is that at the beginning of the season, the team played great touch football but lost. Then we started focus on long ball. When AI arrived it didn't change but the guys seemed to be stronger so the same Brian Laws tactics worked... for a period - it was still horrible 50/50 long ball. As most know, you can't control and win a game if you don't have the ball and our 50/50 long ball is so risky. AI says we have to be strong and maybe crude to win at present and survive. Why is long ball a sensible survival tactic? The players ARE capable of proper football which can keep the ball from the opposition so why are we not doing it???

Nolan is more than capable at LB- in fact most Preston fans said they thought it was his best position iirc.

I would still rather see the 'undroppable' Spurr left out, and then play Nolan at LB and bring Simek back in.

Agree.

Nolan tried to get the ball on his left foot as much as possible today, its obviously his stronger side.

But to be fair, we're rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic - we're still going down with this squad of players.

Probably, but the players have got it in them- they showed that with 5 wins in 7, and a good performance at Forest as well.

We can definitely stay up even with the players we've got- but it is dependent on Irvine giving the players the 'X Factor' that they seemingly found last month and have since lost.

We're probably now favourites to go down though, which has actually played into our hands in the past when we've been in similar positions, so tbh i'm not too downhearted to be made the 'underdogs' to stay up.
