Spookone
I don't get it, how can people with an agenda even get this information?? Where there's a will, there's a way. I wonder if it people at their end who aren't convinced by Wednesday or someone "close to the club"
Anthndav
Indeed. They don't need shares to invest though. They can just pump money in direct, draw up a statement that says if x criteria is achieved investors get x back.
nebneeb
just a round about way of saying "we have some cash that we may invest in SWFC" not buying shares not on the board just along the lines of, we invest 10m to hope to get back 15m in 3 yrs etc that's the vibe i get How do you invest without buying shares? mark77
I read "not talked aobut buying any shares in SWFC at all...." as just that!!!!Buying shares, mean's buying existing shares, creating new shares is totally different.........If there's capital to invest you either buy existing shares (which they said they wont do)....or create new ones, thereby devaluing (sp?) the existing ones people have (which might be why certain people dont want it to go through) Thats how i see it anyway
HarrowbyOwl
My thoughts too. I would have thought this information was confidential & therefore someone within the club must be feeding information out to those with agendas. Seems like YP only got partial information, so its unlikely to have come from a real insider. Their article said: "The potential deal is understood to be along the lines of that previously revealed in a leaked prospectus from American brokers Inner Circle Sports, who were brought on board by Wednesday last year to seek out new investment." I didn't see the leaked prospectus but reports suggested that it still envisaged investors taking an equity stake through a share placement. But the Club 9 Sports statement says: "...at no stage have we discussed the possibility of buying shares in Sheffield Wednesday plc."

latemodelchild
Statement from Club 9 Sports LLC Posted on: Fri 29 Jan 2010 Sheffield Wednesday FC has been asked to distribute the following comments from John Prutch, Managing Partner, Club 9 Sports LLC: "We are aware of press reports in past hours suggesting that Club 9 Sports LLC is in talks with Sheffield Wednesday plc about a potential investment. I want to take this opportunity to explain the position to Sheffield Wednesday supporters. "I can confirm that Club 9 Sports LLC has been in on-going discussions with the Club and its advisors Inner Circle Sports LLC since late November. These discussions have been with a view to find an appropriate structure that will allow us to become part of the Wednesday family. "What I can confirm is that at no stage have we discussed the possibility of buying shares in Sheffield Wednesday plc. We are pursuing a deal by which our capital and skills can be utilised to assist the current management team, led by Chairman Lee Strafford and Chief Executive Nick Parker, to fully implement their business plan for the Club. "We have been impressed, not just by the rich history of Sheffield Wednesday, but with the opportunity that exists to work with the current management and once again make the Club a major force within English football. "That said, there is no guarantee that any deal will be completed. The leaking of our name, we feel has been done to destabilise the process, and we suspect was done by people with their own agendas. "I ask everybody who wants Sheffield Wednesday again to be successful for their patience at this time. Negotiations will continue with all the various parties in the coming weeks and we hope that a successful conclusion can be reached in due course. "We will not be making any further public comment on these negotiations. "Finally, may I wish Alan Irvine and his team the best of luck for the match against Plymouth Argyle at Hillsborough this weekend." Though you should be working you know. wakefieldowl
Its about time those "with agendas" trying to "destabalise the proccess" were outed. What selfish b@stards. Im quite sure their reputation and businesses would suffer badly if it comes out who they are. Thery should be ashamed. Excellent point Plonk. Surely someone knows who. For what they are doing it is about time someone 'leaked' whoever these or more people born out of wedlock are

Lees Tom Cat
I suppose the problem now could be that for people who do not have a internet connection will read that article headlined CHICAGO COMPANY SET TO TAKE CHARGE AT HILLSBOROUGH and not know the response on the OS. I expect a few will call the football heaven in a few weeks time blaming LS for it falling through,Although nothing has actually happened.
marshy
Funny how the ending of the statement wishes AI & the team well for the weekend. Is that the kind of comment you would expect from a "potential" investor. Did Gillet & Hicks wish Liverpool all the best for their weekend match? The thought that this might be further down the line than we all think did fly through my mind for a nanno seccond.
trev
I dont get a good feeling about this. I think in 4/6 months time it will just be another GS saga. I just hope we are still in the Championship at the time.
