F*cking hell fire. Look at the list from 1992 onwards. The games never been richer since the introduction of the Premier League, even richer since 2000's onwards and look at the amount of clubs and the club names on that list. Shocking. Truly shocking. Still let's pretend everythings rosey in the game. Todays main headlines on SSN.... Gary Neville breaks finger nail. Drogba speak out about which Chelsea player has the biggest tail. Rafa gives Lucas one. oh, and lastly Notts County have today entered Administration. The Premier League and it's astronomical amount of money has destroyed the game. Guest ashjam
I don't give a throw about Crystal Palace's woes. Im only interested in Sheffield Wednesday.
Otto_Man
Exactly what I was thinking...."why would Crystal Palace fans jump onto a Sheffield Wednesday fans the day that their Club went into Administration?". Very strange. I'm not bothered what happens to them, but looking at it from afar, someone (property companies?, ex-chairmen?, ex-players?) have made alot of money out of Palace since they last went into Administration. Alot of Sky money/parachute payments has poured in over the last few years. I favour automatic relegation and a ten point penalty the following season. Tough on the fans, but too many Clubs are using it as a way of wiping the slate clean. I've lost count of how many Clubs have been in or are still in Administration.....Leeds, Leicester, Rotherham (twice), Palace (twice), Middlesbrough, Wolves?, Lincoln, Bradford, Huddersfield, Darlington, Notts County?.................is there a list somewhere? Don't forget Leicester. Its a shambolic way out, especially using it twice! The club should pay a larger punishment than 10 points, they should have rebuilt properly, out of profits, not digging themselves a bigger new hole. Plymstockowl
It's something that has been brewing for some time now. Very few PL teams learned from us and now debt in the PL is totally out of control. You only have to look at the likes of Pompey, Fulham, Bolton, Wigan, Hull and Stoke who have no where near a large enough turn over to be anything more than bit part players in the PL. If or when any of these teams go back down to the CCC there is every chance they will be in a much worse position than we were as they don't have the fan base. The likes of leicester, Ipswich and Pompey discust me as they wiped out their debt then got in the PL. Not only that but they then ballsed it up again (although Pompey continue to create greater balls ups on a daily basis). Forest have come out of the othere side in a similar way to us and are getting their reward now, hopefully we will in the near future. Whether we can hold our heads up high or not isn't the point. It is clear that the turn over of Football League teams is not high enough for the kind of salaries and transfer fees that have been spent in recent years. We have had to learn the hard way as a club and more importantly as fans (although many still struggle with it). Lee Strafford said this sort of thing would start happening and that clubs in the FL had to cut their cloth accordingly. It looks like he might well have had a point, we've seen the Blades have debts up to 50m plus, Watford on the brink, Notts County in all sorts of trouble despite a takeover and now Palace in admin. This will continue until the FA, FIFA and Football League chairmen sort their poo poo out and realise this is a sport and not a cash cow. The shocking thing I notice about that list is that about half have had a resurgence since going into admin. Some you can just about tie in with coming out of admin and the run upwards starts! When you look at teams like Portsmouth and Hull on that list and see how they are now you realise that things are even worse than you thought. There are a fair few teams that have been in the Prem at one point or another that are on that list, that is quite worrying too! Just not bothered...
