That's not what he did

The fact that after a while Brunt and Whelan were worth a bit of money was much more accident than design - it wasn't some sort of policy

He let good players go - he freed a player who went on to top score in the division and sell for £1m - it was just a haphazrd policy with no thought behind it at all.

Well, he went on record saying it.

I'm not saying he did great in transfer market, certainly not defending him as manager. I was certainly against releasing likes of Quinn, Bromby and even Geary at time as well... But it has nothing to do with his policy (and yes it was his policy towards the end of his reign here) to look for Premiership academy prospect bring them, here, develop, and sell for prrofit.

But it doesn't matter what he said - it was his actions that define his time here

He never once went for "development players" - not once

He signed 3 players from other academies/reserves and they were not really for development but as part of the then 1st team squad - a development player is somebody like Lennon when he went to Spurs - or Rose at Spurs - Ramsey at Arsenal etc.

We didn't have the infrastructure nor strengths to develop players and Turner did nothing to address that

It was like Inspector Clousseau bungling along lurching from one disaster to the next and by accident something decent happens occasionally
