Another idea - Utilising a sports hall / large room

Recommended Posts

I don't know if the sports hall at the ground is still there ( if not the club could rent the one at the Hillsborough leasure centre - if that's still there?) for this idea:

On match days the club could convert a sports hall / large room into one of the following:

Pool Hall - Set some tables up, TV's etc, put a temporary bar in there to encourage people to come to the ground early and even stay later to avoid the traffic.

Gamming centre - Obviously this would need a gaming licence but, why not have a Sheff Wednesday style gamming centre. For roullete the tables could use pictures of the home and away kits with big numbers on them to represent odd and even and the goalkeeping jersey for 0?

For card games, you could have special Sheffield Wednesday packs of cards where each card is a player who played / plays for the club at that number/position eg the 9's could be David Hirst or have different number 9's for each suit. Ace's you could have maybe Chrissy Waddle. Then of course the ready made ........ wait for it ....... Phil King's. These playing cards could then be sold at the club shop as well (if they don't do this already?).

Most people enjoy a bit of a flutter and on match day's when you have 20K people near by, their's a good chance people may pop in for a bit or go in after the game. You could also have games where you can win vouchers from the club shop/merchandise, tickets or even a season ticket perhaps?

The idea for the gaming centre came from a ferry crossing to Holland many years ago and they had a small gaming area on board.
