  1. Good signing. Physical, scores goals, works hard. Don't see how Windass fits into the jigsaw. Assuming we do play 3,5,2 for the majority of the season then Windass is more of a number 10 or winger. Also Wilks is not a wingback or a second striker (assuming the rumours are true regarding Wilks). Nevertheless Darren Moore has once again on paper recruited well and thus far with zero transfer fees
  2. Assuming Luongo was offered the contract he has had enough time to make up his mind. Good player but club cannot be stalled on making further transfers any longer. Need to build a team and Vaulks on my opinion is a better option. So with further transfers to be confirmed tomorrow transfer business is looking pretty impressive Stockdale Heneghan Vaulks Ihiekwe Smith Still think we need options/backup at wingback and one more striker with pace but Moore has addressed the issues in terms of physicality, experience and striking options. Looking forward to the season ahead.
  3. Maybe good for a year. Solid experienced defender. We maybe need to look at previous promotions we had from League one and sign a few players to get us out of the division (Rob Jones as an example) but agree would not be an inspiring signing.
  4. Wouldn't be surprised if some of the contracts we have offered are on reduced terms so might be that Luongo, Mendez Laing and Wildsmith reject the contracts and move on. Wouldn't be too fussed if Wildsmith moves on. Hardly played last year and may want to play first team football (at a lower level). If we stick with the 3,5,2 system we will need to sign 3 centre backs as if leaves us with Iorfa and Brennan at present.
  5. Not the time for sacking another manager. Squad assembled with free transfers and loans (Some successful and some average as it was always likely to be given the market). Will be another summer of upheaval on terms of the squad however to come close makes everyone look at individuals, points dropped, injuries. The fact is we are where we are and league one is full of players who make mistakes, inconsistent, and that is the reason they don't play at a higher level. Small margins mean that we have missed out but I believe we will regroup and come back stronger next season and be more successful. Darren Moore will recruit players for a 4,2,3,1 system and reduce the average age of the squad accordingly whilst keeping a blend of experience (we had one of the highest in the division this season). Suspect we will look at reducing our playing budget but will still be amongst one of the highest in the league. Might lose Bannan and a few others but so be it. We have no divine right to promotion but a very disappointing end nonetheless.
  6. Friend who is a Rotherham fan. Get ready for spoiling tactics and time wasting (even when level scores). Not pretty and frustrating. An early goal will be needed Saturday
  7. Can't remember the last time we had so many positive statistics and attacking threat in a league match. Would have been a travesty had we not got three points. On to Saturday and another tough test.
  8. Watched him for the under 23's several times and his ability on the ball is great. Makes the odd error of judgement but I thought he made some great decisions in and out of possession tonight. Great experience for him and one we need to tie down on a longer contract for security for both parties. Don't think we need any cover if he continues with performances like tonight and come end of December will have three players back for defensive options. Very positive.
  9. Can't wait to get Windass fully fit. He gives us a different dimension to anything else we have and will change games (like tonight) with his quality.
  10. Seems to be getting better every game he plays. Working hard defensively when needed and is a really threat as he can take the defender down the line or inside. A real outlet for us.
  11. Positional sense tonight was top notch. Against forwards who are quick he showed extremely good concentration levels and dominated aerially in both boxes. Really stepped up in the last six games and he is becoming so dependable.
  12. Nearly let slip about Hutchinson situation but stopped himself. Great commentary.
  13. Paterson had a decent game in a similar system against Rotherham. Think the game plan will be to keep it tight and go more adventurous for the last 25/30 mins with the introduction of pace from Shodipo. Playing a team in form who are top of the league and we are the away side so hardly surprising we have gone conservative albeit disappointed. Reality check says we are nowhere near to a settled team and can only have a settled team if we are performing well and winning games so there is a need to change it around.
  14. Whilst it was an error there are three defenders facing BPF that simply have to give him a shout to say man behind you. Basic communication error.
