  1. Good to know that even back then we were complaining about the style of kits. It's obviously in our blood. Cant imagine what the backlash was like when the plain body white sleeved shirt came out 3 years later.
  2. Not sure, there really isn't much info out there. Perhaps one of our resident historians can shed some light onto it?
  3. Just picked up this stunning piece of Wednesday history. An original 1962/63 home shirt, the one we played in for half a season and the inspiration for our shirt a couple seasons ago. It's an absolute stunner, made by Umbro using their classic Tangeru jersey fabric and seen here modelled by David Layne.
  4. Top work! You know your season hasn't gone as planned when the likes of Port Vale, Tranmere, Luton and Wrexham finish above you. Also Stockport County only finished a point bellow us! Was Carlton still their manager at that point?
  5. Any one else agree that Pelupessy should be immortalised on the Owlstalk emoji board? His expression of shock and amazement is missing from the board and could spice up the forum nicely.
  6. Unless it's in my inbox I'm not going to give it the time of day.
  7. Anyone else notice the Chantily lace detailing down the sides? Lovely touch.
  8. To be honest, it'll just be nice to get an email that isn't from a Nigerian Prince, willy enlargement specialist, viagra salesman or Russian mailorder bride.
  9. Is it really that bad? It's the norm for most businesses that the people who sign up to newsletters are the ones have priority. You have to incentivise it some how especially since GDPR has happened and most companies have lost the majority of their subscribers. Like people have said, you'll only have to wait 30 seconds from the email being sent to see the kit on OT anyway.
  10. Yes it's definitely one bought from the mega store with Umbro and Asda logo's poorly slapped on for an extra £25!
  11. People will do owt for money but come on, if you're gonna go to the lengths to do knockoff shirt at least centre the bloody sponsor! £60? Wow I'm bored!
  12. Don't know why we used that shirt for the home game, here's a shot from the game at Camp Nou were we're playing in our classic strip. Really weird.
  13. I've always been interested by Wednesday's most successful venture into European football the 61/62 Fairs Cup run. Beating Lyon and Roma over two legs and almost beating Barcelona in the quarter finals, winning 3-2 at home only to loose 2-0 at Camp Nou. It's long been a frustration that there is very little written about these games and no images online. On a routine search through the depths of ebay for Owls memorabilia I came across a seller in Madrid who had listed two Barca Fanzines from the time complete with match reports and photos from both games! I'm currently in the process of poorly translating the match reports (They blamed the terrible early March weather for there defeat at Hillsborough) I'll post these over the next couple of weeks along with the photos from Camp Nou, in the meantime here are a few beautiful shots from our triumphant win over Barca.
  14. We also wore it against Wimbledon this is a great article explaining the reasons behind it. https://museumofjerseys.com/2017/10/07/seasons-meetings-no-1-sheffield-wednesday-and-wimbledon-1993-94/
  15. Not sure how reliable this is, but apparently throughout our first season at Hillsborough we weren't just unbeaten at S6, we won every league game. The only match we lost at home that season was an FA cup replay against the Blunts. What a way to start our new life at Hillsborough. Also is it just me or is that goal at least 20 yards wide? Probably goes a long way to explaining our supremacy at home. https://www.11v11.com/teams/sheffield-wednesday/tab/matches/season/1900/
  16. I know who I'm backing for Wednesday's annual donkey derby at Skeggy.
  17. I got Reach's wonder goal shirt! Well chuffed.
  18. Always interesting to hear what other managers have to say about Carlos and our team. McCartney thinks we'll reach the top 6 again and is a big fan of CC. http://www.greenun24.co.uk/ipswich-town/ipswich-town-manager-mick-mccarthy-on-sheffield-wednesday-boss-carvalhal-1-5290893
  19. Why post your views on an article and not post the source? http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-wednesday/sheffield-wednesday-we-re-better-off-away-from-home-says-owls-star-1-8866245 “We will be looking to play similar to how we did at Villa and hit teams on the counter attack and be difficult to play through. “We kind of played that way against Bristol City and it wasn’t one for the fans to watch. But we had to do that as Bristol are in good form and playing some good stuff. We couldn’t open up too much and get caught. “They are fourth and they are flying. They are full of confidence and you could tell that on the pitch. They were well-organised and I think they could be up there at the end of the season.” Where does it say we were afraid of Bristol? A fair point from Wallace, we didn't get the result we were after but from what I saw on the pitch two well matched sides that nullified each other in the final third.
  20. Get a load of these babies! 1935 FA Cup winners in training.
  21. A Stupid lolly pop that was designed by Salvador Dali.
  22. Condition: Mint for the age. (1-2 light dust marks from storage over a decade or so but generally new without tags- fresh and crispy ) fresh and crispy!?
  23. Would we be happy? I tried to go for a modern take on our early 90s classics. I'll be honest, I don't mind our recent kits but as many on here say on a regular basis, it's time to return to the stripes.
