  1. Massive jump from U18's/U23's to the 1st team. Should look at sending more players out on loan.
  2. The writing was on the wall for Eyad when they signed Damba. FWIW I think Eyad is a better player. His goals dried up at the wrong time and despite the injury to O'Brien, he still had the likes of Waldock, Shaw, Grant, Dawodu playing alongside/behind him. Could be while before one of our youth teams have a midfield as good as that. Then you got to look at what's behind him. Is that reason to let him go? Hagan is the year group lower and scored more goals this season. He's already had a couple of run outs with the U23's as well. He's mainly played on right wing this season but they have tried him up top a couple of times. Watching him the other night, he's a right winger for me. Vaselo has had more of a look in towards the end of the season and he could play up top as well. Great goal the other night. Then it's a case of seeing what the new first year incomers will be like. How many times does he get called up by Bulgaria at youth level? Maybe another factor.
  3. Bar one player all local lads. Luke Hall definitely and another lad, Corey Glaves. Seen a couple of snippets and videos on facebook and watched them up at Middlewood road a couple of times but don’t know any of the others.
  4. No suprise he’s been released. Some nice touches last night but choice of pass sometimes let him down. He’s not going to grow much more either. More than a couple of lads coming through from U16’s. Lad called Luke Hall will do really well at U18 level from bits I’ve seen of him. Be hard next season, simply because the current batch who have just got pro contracts are all more than decent prospects. Still, all 3 goalscorers from last night, will be part of the U18 set up next season.
  5. Don’t think the 18’s will recruit from outside. Signed O’Brien last season from Corby. Brought in a few, notably Hagan that had trials with the U16’s and signed two year scholarships. Around 10 current first year scholars will still be with the U18’s next season. Club have offered one U16 a scholarship from outside. From Derby I think. Rest of scholars 8 or 9 are all local lads from the U16’s team. Already suggests a squad of 19 or 20 for next season. They’ll not want work with more players than that. Have to say, the current 2nd year scholars who have been offered pro’s are an exceptional group.
  6. U16's Both these lads play for 16's. At least this looks official.
  7. If that's the case, how do we get the links taken down? Shame
  8. Here’s another goal by same kid against Sheff Utd a few weeks ago. U16 goal vs Blades
  9. On a run of 5 straight wins and only been beat 3 or 4 times all season. Think 8 or 9 have been awarded 2 year scholarships. Quite a few U15’s involved as well I think.
  10. https://www.swfc.co.uk/teams/u18-team/forward/jordan-obrien/ The profiles are there on the official site but an error comes up if you press the team link. You can click from 1 player to the next. John's lads bio is in the link above. Also Owls U16's won 4-0 this morning in their derby game.
  11. A mention for the U16’s who also beat Charlton 4-2 Saturday morning.
  12. Just a little bump for this, as it's tomorrow. Hope people don't mind. Mate of mine just said, 'add in the words GEORGE HIRST' and the thread will get more views.
  13. Charity Game on tomorrow at Wickersley School and Sports College. Family of young promising footballer who passed away at 13yo suddenly, raising money to save young lives and raise awareness. SWFC have arranged for U23's Connor O Grady and Preslav Borukov to attend the game of Tom's old Teammates against the Teachers. See link below. Nice to see the club and players support such a great cause. Told the school side are no mugs either. A few local academy players from local clubs on show who attend the school as well. Starts 3:30pm onwards. SHARE, SHARE AND SHARE SOME MORE - A WEEKEND FOR TOM! We're mega excited to announce some very special guests in attendance at our charity game this Friday. A huge thanks to Sheffield Wednesday who have released the promising u23 players of Connor O'grady and Preslav Borukov to attend our big game. They will be with us to have photos with both squads before the game and for spectators during the match, as well as to sign shirts etc. Both players have played a huge part in the successful U23 Sheffield Wednesday squad over the past 2 years and both will be in and around the first team next season. Defender O'Grady has made a handful of first team appearances at SWFC and was a noteable appearance in match day squads towards the end of last season, striving to be in the first team next season on a regular basis. Striker Borukov has been an ever present goalscorer in both the U18 and U23 SWFC sides and has earned international recognition by being called up to play for his native Bulgaria at both U18 and U21 level. This player has huge potential and the majority of SWFC fans are expecting him to be in the first team next season after such a great goalscoring record in the U23's. TOM FEST 2018 Full weekend of events and a lot of money raised already. If you follow the link, please share.
  14. Team finished 6th overall out of 16. To put things in perspective, Man City finished 7th out of 10, two years ago. Tournament is based on birth year. Lot of teams looked massive compared to us on the TV. Different planet when it comes to technical ability. Got it on good authority Owls on took 16 players and 2 or 3 of those were carrying injuries. Top Greek teams had 20 players.
  15. U14’s have reached the QF K15 of a tournament in Greece. Playing Olympiacos. Match will be screened live on Novasport HD1 today at 1:00pm Also live streaming Via the tournament website at 1:00 http://eliteneoncup.com/greece/live_stream/ Feedback says our lads are playing against older boys but after losing two tight games on Monday they put in a good performance to win 5-1 and qualify for the quarters yesterday. Winners will be live in the Semi’s later in the day. Good luck to the boys.
  16. It is rumoured Alan Partridge is attending.
  17. Might be of interest to some. Matches played through from morning to late afternoon. £3 a day entry.
