  1. I don’t know but there’s a possibility it’s just a tax thing. Might want to offset the asset (the stadium) with a liability (the loan). I’ve seen it with people who want to give shares to someone without creating a taxable gain for the person they’re giving shares to.
  2. Pretty sure I once saw big Dave beaten to the ball by a linesman.
  3. Assuming we have rental agreement with them, we should be able to negotiate flexibility for SWFC to sub-let it though right?
  4. If we look at it historically - staying up this season is the equivalent of finishing 12th last season. Previous two seasons before that it’s more like 15th and back up to 11th for the season before them. It’s basically a question of “are we a top half side?” That should be possible with this squad + a striker + a bit of injury luck.
  5. There’s provision for a rainy day and there’s provision for a global pandemic. Agree that most clubs need to prepare better for tough times but I’m not sure we can hold them responsible for not seeing this coming.
  6. There’s loads of research showing how stress can have permanent effects on brain function and particularly the speed at which you can think situations through. He’s had a rough time with us and it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s just slowed down mentally. It’s such fine margins in the game now that a half second here or there and he’s no longer the player he once was. hope I’m wrong and the Beattie can turn him into a world-beater mind!
  7. This is what makes the window so exciting IMO. We’ve got options now to shift things about if it’s not going our way. Before we really struggled against organised teams. Now we can be more direct when we need it. Before we struggled to manage games out (how many points did we drop in extra time last season), now we can bring luongo / hutch on and pack the middle. Feels like very astute work to me.
  8. Anyone know who Acura Sports are? They’re claiming Reach to QPR for £5m - must be bullsh*t right?
  9. According to Nixon. Some interest. Great business if so.
  10. Bringing my 7 yr old niece for her first Wednesday game against Reading. Anyone know where I can find kid-friendly versions of the songs to share with her mum in advance. The little one is excited and wants to learn the songs before the big day.
  11. Interesting article in the paper today on the stats behind sacking / not sacking managers. Upshot is most sackings happen when the manager is unlucky vs underperforming and that bringing in a new manager tends not to make the slightest bit of difference http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/sacking-managers-pointless-stats-slaven-bilic-west-ham-premier-league-a8044586.html
  12. Got 2 in the west lower that I can't use. Drop me a message if you're interested
  13. I've got a couple in west lower that I can't use. Drop me a message if you're interested
  14. I'm not so sure it's a question of promotion with Rhodes vs future with Hirst. For me the question should be why sell for (what I'm assuming will be) low 7 figures now when we could sell for low 8 figures in 2/3 years' time? Lets face it if if he delivers on his promise we can't keep him for ever but we can maximise his value. Over the next three years, particularly if we get promotion his value will go up sharply - why sell an appreciating asset. It's like selling your house just before you know a housing boom is on the way. Reckon chansiri can see that.
  15. Looks good according to the "oracle of truth" that is football manager. Also an a list of best left backs available on a free. Stats seem to back up what people are saying here, defensively suspect but a good attacking option.
  16. Realistically LB - Bennett CB - Ekstrand (good mates with Abdi, which owuld help) DM - Gunnarsson (might be unlikely if Norwich thing is true)
  17. Stats-wise he's one of the top 10 defensively minded mids in the championship: Tackles / interceptions per game are all up there, pass completion ratio and key passes as well. https://www.whoscored.com/Players/35734/History/ and that bullet throw? I'd take him.
  18. Lavery just got offered a new deal - if they're moving him out it will only be in loan surely?
  19. He's six foot and less than 12 stone according a couple of stats sites.
  20. Interesting to see Norwood suggested (Caveat: I'm by no means an expert on the championship, but I'm a reasonable nerd). Scraped some data from https://www.whoscored.com looking at potential midfield generals (defined people who put in a good few tackles, have a good attempted / successful tackle ratio, don't get beaten very often and can pass) and Cole Skuse comes up unexpectedly well. Only people who came out ahead of Norwood were Spearing, Skuse, Hutch and Vela.
  21. Seriously why are we chasing so many strikers / attacking midfielders? Only burnley and hull have scored more than us this season. We've conceded more than every other team in the top 6 and whoever plays in our holding midfield role averages a card every couple of games. Surely what that's saying is that our playing style stretches our defence and we need real class in that holding role to be able to cope with the attacking style? I love watching us play at the moment, not for a second saying we should change that but in my view if we're going to drop 5+ million on a player, that's the area th
