I hope the work experience at SWFC is better than what we used to get as kids.

Mine involved binding some documents for hours and I had some cheeky tw@t ask me if I knew how to spell fork (I was 15 at the time).

I got sent to Sheffield Wildlife Trust.  They had me wandering around Manor Top with a trundle wheel.

It bore no resemblance to any work I have ever experienced since.

  2. It's aimed at people in their 60s who just want to watch Hyacinth and anything starring Martin Clunes.

Unfortunately for Britbox that is the exact same demographic who extremely firmly believe they should get all those things on the iPlayer anyway since they pay their TV licence.

At least now they'll have the choice.

At the minute, if you can't get to games, why be a Wednesday fan?

You can't follow it on TV, no green un any more, just them two prats on the radio and 20 seconds of a 2 hour TV programme.

Man City are on TV nearly every week.

If you're a young lad who lives 2 minutes from Hillsborough but can't afford tickets, who are you going to follow? Wednesday, who you've seen play twice last season, or Man City who you've seen 20-30 times.

The main reason the young ones follow the big clubs over local is accessibility. They see these teams every day, where lower clubs are just something that causes traffic on a Saturday.

Bringing the accessibility may have a short term impact, but in the long run, could bring a whole new generation of fans that would have been lost to the big EPL teams.

The answer is to find new ways to get them into the stadium.

    Cheaper tickets, deals, whatever.

It's not like there is a shortage of seats.

Not read the thread but a few things, firstly Leah is so annoying and that chase in the woods in episode 1 was comically bad. They may as well have had Jar Jar Binks chasing her instead.

Secondly there is so much in this series that goes against what happens in A New Hope.

When Darth Vader fights Obi Wan in that he says ‘when I left you I was but the learner, but now I am the master’…. The only problem with that now is the scene in this series where he absolutely batters Obi Wan. He didn’t look like the learner there as he handed Obi Wan his a**e on a plate so that doesn’t work now.

Also when Luke mentions the name Obi Wan, Alec Guinness says ‘now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time’…. The problem with that now is he’s repeatedly referred to as Obi Wan and this series is only supposed to be about 10 years before A New Hope so that doesn’t work now.

Also, when R2D2 beams his message in full for Obi Wan in A New Hope, Leah says ‘General Kenobi. Years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars. Now he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire’ but they’ve now added in this whole rescue mission that Obi Wan now undertakes for Leah in this series so why would she not make reference to that in her message?

I also don’t get how Obi Wan seems a far more capable Jedi as an old man rather than 10 years earlier in this series.

I liked the Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett was ok (well the episodes with the Mandalorian and Grogu were) but I’m not that keen on this new series.

That said I’ll still watch it as I’m a bit of a Star Wars geek.lol

Obi Wan is a broken man at this point and has been actively cutting himself off from the Force.  Everything he ever believed in was torn down by someone he thought was a close friend, someone he trained, even.  A person that he had to kill (as far as he knew).

He's been hiding in a ******** canning plant in the middle of nowhere for ten years and the fact that Owen Lars is putting up stiff resistance to him actually training Luke is probably almost a relief to him.  What if he ******** it up again?  He'll probably just get the poor kid killed, or worse, and he seems perfectly happy where he is.  What if Owen is right?  Maybe it's time for the Jedi to just go extinct.  Qui Gonn doesn't answer his attempts to make contact, and even Master Yoda is off hiding in a hole somewhere.

I think this show is very much intended as a 'How Obi Wan Got His Groove Back' kind of a story.  I fully expect him to get back in fighting shape and teach Anakin that he still doesn't know everything about Jedi-ing over the next couple of episodes.  It's clearly where the show is heading.

I also quite like that Leia has a pre-existing relationship with Obi Wan.  It makes more sense that she would place so much trust in him rather than if he was just one of her dad's old war buddies that she has never met.  And that she would be so sceptical about Luke and Han turning up to rescue her instead.  Plus the little girl actor is EASILY the best thing about this show.

While we are doing an upgrade on the floodlights, it would be good idea to install a second scoreboard, preferably above the tango corner, continue the white wall round the back with the new scoreboard above, it would make the stadium look more enclosed, and would be more beneficial to fans who don’t get a good view of the south / west scoreboard. Most stadia now have a scoreboard at each end of the ground.

Can those people not just remember what the score is?

Think I saw that  168 extra flights to neighbouring countries per day have been put on so ...they can go to hotel rooms there

    Sounds super carbon neutral...

  7. I guess that depends on how much you like the stupid backflip Prequel fights.

I still haven't got over Yoda pulling out a lightsabre and flying around the room like a pinball.

  8. I had it in the back of my head that Zinchenko was no longer playing due to being a serial rapist.

Turns out that is someone completely different.  Shows how much attention I have been paying...

Thought it's been alright so far, there are just no stakes in it since we already know Uncle Owen, Obi-Wan, Leia, Luke and all will come out of the entire thing without so much as a scratch.

What was the point in spending time on the Inquisitor threatening to kill Owen and his family if he doesn't tell her about the Jedi when everyone watching the show knows it's pointless as she can't do anything to any of those characters. Unfortunately I think they're gonna spend the entire series focusing on characters we know are in no jeopardy just because people recognise them as Star Wars.

You could say the same thing about any of the Prequel movies though.  Knowing who is going to live and die doesn't necessarily have to be the only source of narrative drama.

I think you are in the minority of football fans.

The money paid is crazy but the quality is fabulous.

I think the 'quality' of football is pretty incidental to the overall experience of being a football fan tbh.  When you drill down to it the actual football isn't really what being a football fan is about.

If synchronised swimming had been inexplicably popular amongst working class Victorians we would all be off to Ponds Forge every weekend chanting obscenities at the judge instead.

not watched a champions league or premiership game for 20 years? sorry to hear that

    Nah.

Used to watch them back when I was a teenager in the 1990s and there was a bit of an 'event' about watching a British club do well in Europe.

Not sure what I would get out of it these days though.

Granted it's so much money and more than he could ever need or spend, but we'll all still tune in to every premier league season and watch city, united, chelsea and liverpool spunk millions of cash on wages and fees, as we'll all still tune in and watch every champions league season, and we'll all tune in and watch these millionaires play in every euro's and world cup. Yeah the money is crazy in football but there's not much we can do about it and none of us are going to stop watching these millionaires provide entertainment season in and season out. Just enjoy it and try and forget about the fortunes they're earning

    Who's this 'we'?

Don't think I've watched a European or Premiership fixture since the early '00s.

It's all just noise to tune out, just like all the other 'celeb' poo .
