  1. Apparently over half of this Sunday’s episode will be one long interview/interrogation scene… the longest single scene in the history of the show.
  2. The Williams is looking to have stepped up this season to be fair (admittedly not to works Mercedes standards though). I'd expect a couple of points finishes for them. HAAS on the other hand...
  3. Also says a lot about the current state of Bottas. He struggled all weekend, qualified poorly and didn't look like he was going anywhere in that field for much of his race. Russell had every right to go for the overtake with all that considered.
  4. Going ahead. Line up will be announced Monday.
  5. Apparently Leeds is less profitable than Sheffield overall. The council agreed to spend to bring the Sheffield store up to date — something John Lewis agreed to just last year before reneging on the deal. That's my main problem with it. They agreed to keep the Sheffield store just a few months ago and signed a deal to that effect, then pulled the rug soonafter whilst simultaneously planning a new e-commerce depot for online sales to bastardise the bricks-and-mortar sales. I don't mind them pulling out and concentrating on online in the area.. but the sneaky, horrible way they've gone about it is contemptible.
  6. In the past it was an issue, but it is less so now. Modern movies are made with the subtitles encoded into the digital file nowadays (usually an .scc file), like the audio is similarly encoded. You'll see this if you rewind the movie... the subtitles will come back up again (whereas with live transcribed subtitles, they only generally go out at the time and if you rewind they are gone, except for certain types of subtitles).
  7. That's true of LIVE subtitles (i.e. news programmes, etc, where the person is speaking right now). For recorded programming the subtitles are usually a file provided directly by the programme's production that is created directly from the script.
  8. Because the Daily Mail (and it's stable mates) has a history of lies, sensationalism, hypocrisy and downright disgusting 'journalism'. Which is also the case here when you look at the headline and see the actual context of the discussion that was being selectively quoted.
  9. Why do people still read the Daily Mail?
  10. They specifically said 'He' so it's a male.
  11. The exact wording: "As we know, sir, officer’s samples are stored on the system to exclude contamination of crime scenes. Now, an officer’s DNA isn’t speculatively examined on a routine basis, and certainly wasn’t back when Davidson joined the force. Because the DNA deposits detected at the house weren’t assumed to relate solely to a police officer, they were compared against the whole system. The analysis detected partial matches to a nominal whose DNA is stored on other police databases. He’s identified over the page.” I take that to mean that Jo Davidson's sample was found at the house and tested on the whole database then that sample was partially matched to somebody who has been arrested previously (a "nominal"), rather than the 3rd person having been at the house (but I can see how it could be taken the other way).
  12. John Lewis are now planning to build an e-commerce hub at Waitrose off Ecclesall Road, but have snubbed local group the Sheaf and Porter Rivers Trust in the plans... ...so the Trust are campaigning for people to object to the plans in their current form: https://www.sheffieldguide.blog/2021/04/14/john-lewis-snubs-local-group-in-e-commerce-depot-plans/
  13. Fargate plans: https://www.sheffieldguide.blog/2021/01/14/fargate-and-high-street-to-be-reinvented-as-social-hubs-with-15million-future-high-streets-funding/
  14. New trailer out for Mainstream. Hugely anticipated release since its preview screenings where people either loved it or apparently walked out in uncomfortable horror. Said to be a 'Joker' type film (some have even said it is better than Joker!) and supposedly Andrew Garfield is phenomenal in it.
  15. Often issues like this isn't down to Apple but down to how developers code their websites/apps (often targeting use on a preferred browser, often Chrome because it is fairly ubiquitous and platform agnostic). It is likely the Disney+ developers have ignored optimising their service for Safari.
  16. Also, a gig going on on Facebook RIGHT NOW: https://www.facebook.com/edcosensmusic/posts/3701860923269625
  17. Ed wrote a blog for The Sheffield Guide this week... https://www.sheffieldguide.blog/2021/04/08/ed-cosens-there-is-definitely-summat-in-twater-in-sheffield/
  18. They have the remaster, so I would expect it to be more than that. A full-on Resident Evil/Final Fantasy VII type remake with updated everything and some new sections, etc. Possibly even some parts to tie in to the upcoming TV series.
  19. They are available on PS5 too. Remember to claim them all even if you don't have space on your hard drive for them right now — they'll stay in your library forever so you'll be able to download them when you have the space.
  20. Days Gone is a love/hate game for me. Its another zombified, open world game with loads of checkpoints on the map to clear, etc. The story is a bit meh. The acting isn't great. The graphics are OK, but not top-tier. Its just nothing... special. There's nothing I can point to and say "that part of it was awesome" (not even the hordes, which was its biggest selling point). But all that said, I found myself irresistibly playing it despite not loving it. I'd switch the PlayStation on and automatically load it up and find myself doing an hour or two despite not really loving it or even enjoying it in some places. Is it worth playing for free as part of PS+ though? Absolutely.
  21. It was. Think it was fixed fairly quickly though?
  22. April: Oddworld: Soulstorm (PS5), Days Gone (PS4), Zombie Army 4 (PS4)
